IS250 stereo problem Help!!!
Hey guys my buddy has a 07 Is250, and his problem is that his stereo turns on and everything but no sound out of the speakers?? Comes on once in a while but then goes out after powering the car off and turning it back on no sound. My first guess is the AMP I pulled the ground from the battery to reset the ECU and fired up the car got sound, as soon as I turned the car off and tried the stereo again nothing no sound.. has anyone had this problem b4???
I might just have him buy a new amp on Craigslist or something if i don't figure it out.
Thanks guys..

If one of the speakers are grounded the whole stereo will not play sound.... you will have to un hook each speaker to see which one is the problem.... Mine was easy to find... there was a screw stuck to the magnet and touching the terminal...

Ill take a look the thing is that it does it on Aux as well. Sometimes it plays fine radio and Aux he mostly uses the Aux since the CD player don't work (common thing on the IS Models) so he turns his car on sometimes no sound out of Aux or FM radio, and sometimes sound from both???

Problem hasnt manifested itself again (since Sunday). Oddly enough, I remember this happened once 4 years ago and didnt happen again til now. If it happens again, I'll try plugging my phone into the AUX to see if any sound comes out.
Did a Google search and it seems that failing amplifiers are a common thing for Lexus cars, esp LS and RX drivers (numerous threads on clublexus). One of the LS threads talks about a business in Syracuse, NY called United Radio where you can send them your broken amplifier and they'll fix it for $325 w/ a one year warranty. Worse comes to worse, I will do that cuz a new amp goes for 900+ from Sewell so prob $1k+ from the dealership non ML, ML amps are 1500+.
I have a strong hunch that its the amp cuz the stations are changing, CD player still spinning, just no sound comes out, and when it happens, it only happens after the car is started (sound doesnt cut out while driving). In the LS/RX/GS threads where this has happened, alot of times they replaced their amps. After you get a chance to investigate further, let me know what you find.

Sounds like a AMP to me, if you have power to the radio and all the buttons work but the volume is stuck at zero or does nothing. 9/10 it is a amp. swap with a known good and go from there.
