The Group 24 size is the correct replacement for the IS. The battery Costco sells for the Lexus IS is NOT a Group 24 and therefore does not fit properly.

Thanks Loy. Just read and replied. So should I get 24 or 24F?

Just install Walmart size 24 and it fits perfectly . There were 4 batteries returned at Costco and those guys advised lasted no more 3.5 years....so watch out for Costco maybe quality went bad? Hope the Walmart one will last 5 years...

Default Battery replacement

I just bought a Bosch group 24 battery to replace my OEM battery on my 2008 is250. The new battery is slightly taller and required me to remove the battery tray at the bottom. Is the battery support tray needed?

^^^^I've had 2 Bosch Group 24 batteries in my ISF (the latest one is an AGM) and both fit without issue. I've heard of this problem one other time, and I don't understand it

Note. When my wife was alive I replaced the battery in her ES with a Bosch Group 24F (opposite polarity) and it also fit perfectly.

I had my battery light come on briefly last week. Picked up a 25-DLG from Autozone after they confirmed my Optima was bad. It would not fit with the plastic tray installed in the bottom. They told me it was the same size as the 24-DLG. I ended up getting a 24 ext from Orielly's. This one fit with the tray installed only after forcing the hold down bar to get the nut started.

AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 24 from Advance Auto Parts (part 24-6) seems to be exact height of 24-DLG. Because I could not reuse the frame (due to side handles on new battery) I had to add a 1mm shim under the front bracket edge so that it tightens securely.

just tried to install pepboys bosch group 24 battery on my 2010 is250, i can confirm that its slightly taller than lexus's oem therefore the securing bracket on the surface wouldnt fit into the slots on the top and bottom (with an angle which you cannot reach/tighten the screw) i'm not using the "battery frame" btw, gonna return it and get a duralast gold from autozone.
