Also, I read a post that says this unit is non shielded at the plugs. The shield is grounded to the frame of the unit. I was thinking to avoid the ground feedback, why not just leave the minus alone and just control the L and R plus?

It appears to be non ML. There are no logos of ML on dash radio or elsewhere. Amp number is 86280-53110
Any wiring diagrams for this unit?
Thanks, Dann
Ooooooh, so it's a ML? Downloaded schematic and now I just have to figure out which 4 wires are the imput from the radio to the amp. Anyone know the location of which plug on back of amp? There are 4 terminals for plugs, two of them are side by side. And which pin or wire colors I need to address. I called the factory that makes the unit I posted about and they told me that this unit is built to do just what I have in mind. The minus sides are not grounded to the case of the unit like I thought. Any help identifying which pin and color wire would be appreciated.

On the back of the amp it looks like I have plug terminals P27,28 together, P29 seperate and P30 seperate. I don't have the T1 plug terminal shown on schematic. Now to figure out what each one goes to. Thanks for all help, sorry to take your time.

I think you should disconnect the mids they are the ones who make the most noise and just leave the bottom speaker and tweeter because there is no other way around it unless you want to go to the amp which is in the trunk on the right side and disconnect some of them through there.
I think you should just regulate lol. This to me seems like a complete waste of time, money, and effort. Rather than running the risk of messing up your car, why not just put your foot down, take her key away, and just parent
So I dug in and snipped two wires that I traced to the plug going into the amp. A red one and a black one. According to the schematic, these two are the imput from the radio. Absolutely no change, I still had sound throughout the range. Gonna solder these two wires back and call it a day. I looked over the schematic and those two wires are the only ones that make sense. They would be the L+ and R+.

I'm listening to you guys. Car is already taken away. Try telling a young ****head not to turn volume up! Might as well talk to a wall. Once around the block, it would be blasting. Gonna look into disconnecting the big speakers instead.

Now to disconnect the mids. Any precaution or suggestions to get to them. Car is soooooo beautiful now I don't want to break any plastic clips or whatever I have to take apart to get to the speakers.
