Default HID help

I'm still kinda of new to this site and well i just got an 2009 is 350 before christmas and I must say i love the car, but i've had the car for bout 2 weeks and the low beam head lights as acting up on me. From what the sales man told me was that the car had HID lights and well when I start up the car the lights come on, however when I drive the car the passenger light goes out and eventually the drivers side low beam head light goes out as well at night. Does any body know what the problem is? Do y'all think it is the light bulb?

Try replacing the bulbs. D4S bulbs, check Ebay. If that doesn't solve it, then it's the ballast that's going out. I had a similar issue with my passenger side bulb going out and it was fixed by replacing the bulbs.

I have a is300 and had the same problem. My driver side light would go off after a few mins of being on. To verify that it was the bulb i simply swapped bulbs. Sure enough after a few mins the passenger side bulb(originally the driver bulb) went out. I bought some replacement hids and everything has been fine. So first try and make sure the connections are tight to the bulbs. If so then try swapping bulbs around and see if that works. Last resort is maybe its the ballast.

It's a 2009. Don't replace anything. Unless it has over 50k miles on it- Take to dealer, have fixed free under warranty.

You think they will replace the bulb if it is?

If it is the bulb, and it's not an aftermarket replacement, then it should be under warranty. Like Kurtz said if it's under 5 years (which it is) and under 50,000 miles, it should be covered. But make sure these are not aftermarket HIDs. If you take it in, that may be the first thing they say why they won't replace it. But you need to know this ahead of time.

Good luck!

i would figure that much since its a maintenance item (bulb). Just try swapping bulbs around and see what happens.

Sounds like something is loose then. Check the connection to the bulb.
