Thats a loud exhaust.
Are you giving it gas or is it revving on its own?

loose/dirty temp sensor, the dreaded carbon build up? reset ecu first it may calibrate itself.

i would discount the battery first and let it sit for like 10 mins. check your connection with the map sensor and check all vacuum hoses, clamps, and air filter housing. if everything is ok, then its probably the idle control valve

95% sure it's your iac (idle air control)..if it runs when above idle that is likely the culprit. This exact problem occurred on our boat which has 2 v8 6.2l engines

I'm with these guys. Classic symptoms or a vacuum leak. Like stated above check all your air hose and clamps. Make sure you do a thorough check. Good luck.

I agree with lextera. i've seen this happen with some other cars and its usually a leak somewhere.

It roars on start up for a few seconds, invidia mid pipe and greddy exhaust.
Doing it on it's own, i was thinking about giving it a little gas but too afraid.

I would hate if this was carbon build up, what are some symptoms that i could have seen that could lead up to carbon build up? i just got an oil change about 800 miles ago, it ran fine but it did idle a bit high in cold weather, or until it warmed up.

I usually don't drive it in the winter because Cleveland winters are terrible but we haven't had much snow at all so i have been driving it till they start pouring salt on the roads. Sometimes at red lights the rpms will jump up to 900-1100 and it feels like it wants to go, i have press the brake a little harder - this seems to happen mostly upon warm up, first 5 minutes of driving.

I'm assuming Idle control valve and IAC are the same thing?

Wanted to follow up, last weekend i checked for leaks (all fine) and disconnected battery for 15 minutes - it's still doing the same thing.

Ordered a flatbed to come and pick up the car tomorrow morning to bring to the shop, will follow up this weekend as to what the culprit was, hopefully nothing major!
