Default is350 transmission fluid

The service guy at Lexus of Tacoma in Fife said the is350 never need a transmission drain and fill. Is he full of crap or is this true?

This is true, our cars use the World Standard ATF fluid which is a lifetime fluid that doesn't need to be changed. The transmission on our cars is a sealed unit that wasn't designed to be serviced either. There are ways to change the transmission fluid if you want, but its unnecessary. The only thing you need to do with the transmission should be to inspect for any leaks. There is a member here that has 250,000 miles without changing the ATF so its been proven to last that long i guess

Np guys!

I was worried about the transmission servicing too when i got my IS250 because i've had transmission issues in the past with my Prelude and was changing the ATF every 30k. Glad our transmission doesn't need servicing and has been proven to last tho

I was also told the same when I inquired about the proper fluid. The dealer said that the only time they drain the fluid from the trans is when they are making a trans repair. NOT as a preventive maintenance service. No worries!

Don't buy into "lifetime" fluid as it only a marketing gimmick to keep the costs of ownership to down. All fluids will breakdown over time.
