Default Almost Traded.

Went to the local carmax store to see how much I can get from my IS350 2006 with 60k miles. The only two things that are making me change the car is a slight vibration on the steering wheel and my dash melting.
After getting quoted $16900 I have decided to stay with it and pay the $8000 i owe right now. Thought I could of gotten a bit more and did not find anything I liked withing the 25k to 30k price range. I have already decided to throw a new set of hankook V12s on the car new brake pads from sewell and see how I manage to maintain the dash.
I really love my car and thought about upgrading and renewing but is not gonna happen. I had my eye on G37s coupe and 335I sedan and none of the two clicked with me, the 335I the interior and the G the fact I only like the coupes and I did not want to loose my rear doors...Thanks for reading just felt like sharing and will like to hear some opinions from you guys.

maybe an IS-F steering wheel damper to help with that vibration?

From what i hear, even the 2011 BMW 335's are still having HPFP failures so good thing you didn't trade for one of those just yet! Glad you decided to keep the car though. Have you called Lexus Corporate about the issues your having? Especially for the dash melting, call up Lexus Corporate and file a complaint and they may just cover the replacement cost for you, or offer you something like 50% off the cost of replacement. They are pretty good about keeping Lexus owners satisfied.

Ouch, with my '06 350 @ 40k miles (Sports pkg w/ NAV) CarMax offered me 21k (including pointing out the fact that every OE rim was curbed [previous female owner...don't ask. LOL!]). That dash problem really hurt you there. Plus maybe in FL they have more 2ISs? Hmmmmm. In the SC area, you just don't see too many...and they sell at a small premium. Guess that's why I flew into NJ for mine! LOL

Exactly. I'm originally from SC and I had to get my IS from Maryland. Drove it all the way back to SC and the 30days I was home and driving around. I only saw one other IS and it was at a Cadillac dealership. Well anyway to the OP I'm glad you decided to keep your IS. Who knows maybe one day you will find something better or equal value and get that and still get to keep your IS too

^Funny, we basically did the same thing. Sounds like our findings were very minimal for the SC 2IS market.

Got my 350 from a Chevy dealership of all places. LOL!

is your car stock? modifications will significantly drop your trade in value, also keep in mind here in florida there are far more 2IS and less demand for them, therefore explaning the price they offered.

Still that was tough. My 07 with 52K at the time was quoted at $21.5K

Thanks for the replies I will call Lexus and see what they do about the dash issue, I had an issue with my transmission and got it replace at no cost so I know Lexus is pretty good at keeping owners happy, the price they offered is too low for sure. I am glad I kept my IS there is really no another car that will keep me happy. I am gonna order brakes from sewell and will try out the IS-F damper it will most likely help I feel the our steering is too light and anything will make it vibrate, I also hope the new set of tires makes it smother considering my tires are worn out.

In conclusion I am happy and I am glad you guys agree, thanks for the support, I gave her a good wash today and she looked fresher than ever

P.S. Here in south florida there is tons of 2IS in the street, they even had like 5 2IS including 350s, what they told me was that after certain mileage the car market is less and also maintenance is higher which I only maybe agree with the market and maybe I am not even 100% with that.

Have to ask, what was this transmission issue you had? I'm jw because i haven't really heard many complaints about the auto transmission on our cars.

Damn, HPFP failures are gonna be the death of the E9X. I've sat in one plenty of times, never driven one before but they seem to be fun machines to own - if you have the income and a second car when it goes awry.

OP, glad to see you stuck with the IS. Its truly a great car.

Seems like a lot of BMW owners don't care, because most BMW's seem to be leased or the original owners dump them before warranty is up anyways lol

What happened with my tranny was, or at least what my service adviser said was that in one of the services at the dealer they tried to service the transmission letting some fluid out of it. Our transmissions cant be serviced they are sealed and to refill the fluid the transmission has to be dropped and a special pump ha to be used. So mine stayed low in fluid and overheated blowing up some gaskets and seal making it leak and start slipping of course. This all happened a few months after I bought my car used and they took the fault gave me a loaner and ordered a new transmission, took about a week to put it back on the car, I really thought about getting rid of that car because of the replaced tranny but after driving a few days it felt better than before. I have put another 30k miles since then and the car runs perfect and it has being to the 1/4 of mile and driven pretty hard with no issues at all.

well at least you came out with a positive decision, your problem is manageable and most of them are the usual wear of the car (except the dash melting),just keep in mind that our car will last for years with minimal maintenance, you probably mixed with the situation on whats going on right now with the dash and i hope that you will solved that dilemma soon, good luck and hope you will enjoy your ride for years to come!

I have been wondering about this, i dont know if it is typical of the is. but mine seems to slip especially while cold..making it rather jerky when just starting out. do you guys know if this is normal? if it isn't, I may as well get it fixed before my powertrain is up
