Default HELP!! Damaged auto dim mirror when installing puddle lamps

Installed led puddle lamps last night and everything works fine except for the auto dimming on my drivers side mirror! Glass is fine but when the dimmer kicks on, only 1/4 of the mirror dims! Anybody know if it's possible to fix? If not....for all of you planning to swap out your puddle lights...BE CAREFUL!! Esp if you have auto dimming mirrors!

This hasnt happened to anyone else? Well heres a pic of what Im talking about and some pics of the puddle lights and dome lights. BTW, the auto dim pretty much doesnt work at all anymore. What you see in the pic just gets worse when it tries to dim. Oh and FYI the V-Leds for the puddle lights have to be modified to fit!! Had to grind down the top of the housing.

I use JLC Lighting 5-SMD T-10 and it auto dims fine. Also, no grinding required.

Just to clarify.....not talking about the dimming of the puddle light. If you look at the pic of the mirror....notice how it looks like it was wiped with a wet towel or something? I damaged the auto dimming in the mirror glass itself, not the dimmer for the puddle lamp.

Oh that. You may need to see the dealership because you touched it and inadvertently might of compromised a component when you did this. May possibly of been cracked, even thou it doesn't show any but definitely does look suspicious.

For me, I had the dealership work mine.

First time I've seen a problem like this. Do you recall anything during the install that might have caused this?

Nope! Passenger side is fine too. Maybe the mirror was about to crap out and me messing with it just put it over the edge? Searched "electrochromatic mirror" and apparently these things always have issues. Even my interior mirror looks a little like it has dust lines going diagonally accross it. This is the first time in over ten years of modding that I've ever broke anything!! I can bag a truck...do a motor swap...install turbo....all without breaking anything. But I can't take apart a mirror. Lol!
