Default 2007 staggered tires

Hello I own a is250 and have a question about my rims and tires
I noticed that for the last 2 sets of tires, the front tires tend to wear faster on the inside. it got to the point on my last set that the insides were worn completely down but the middle of the tires were still above the wear bars.

I could not rotate accordingly due to the fact that the rears were a bit larger. i did however get alignments frequently and they showed everything was on point

my question is , how can i prevent this? is this a problem? i even did alignment

also..when i asked the discount tire rep when i bought 2 front new tires yesterday..he reccomnended that i run all the same size rims to prevent the uneven wear on the front tires

thanks for the help!

The factory alignment specs do that "/ I've heard there is a way to align the car to prevent this a little. Never looked to much into it though. Hopefully someone chimes in to help a bit.

I'm having the same issue on my 2007 IS350, and I've also read on CL this is a common problem on the 2IS. Haven't seen a fix though, or recommendation for how to prevent in the future.

From what I've seen on here, everyone is saying to have the alignment tech set the front to 0 toe. I think the factory setting is for the front to have toe out, so it wears the inside of the tires. I'm going to have to look into this issue myself. My tires have 6,000 miles on them right now and I can tell the inside is wearing faster.

One thing you can do if you want to get more life out of your tires is to have the tires dismounted and moved to the other side on the front. This would keep the rotation correct. As for the tire size, you could run the same size tires, but you will still have different width rims. It might look silly when you run the wider rims up front. Or you might not even notice. I wouldn't do it if it were me though. Car looks too good to me with stagger.

My car doesn't have 0 toe and it doesn't have inner tire wear.

Not everyone has this issue, but it is pretty common. Search and you will see many talking about inside front tire wear.

Yes I know, but it does not take in consideration if the vehicle aligned properly/accurately. How about if the readings were wrong, bad rack, sensors, mounting etc.. depending on where the alignment was done? Then I could see why 0 toe is being asked for which should not be the case.

Could it also be safe to assume that the IS is more sensitive to how the car is aligned compared to regular cars? If true, than it would still hold true that the car was not dialed in correctly and would be something that could be gotten away with on a other cars but not on the IS.

Here is my 07 IS250 AWD and the 08 IS250 RWD which had dealership alignment (initial read outs). The after result is going to a dedicated shop. So far, I do not have excessive tire wear - I only have normal wear pattern which is being shown on the outer side which is confirmed normal from the alignment tech as I do get the tires by him every 4-5K as per his recommendation to monitor the tires.

If both edges of a tire are worn and the center is still good, it generally indicates not enough pressure in the tires. Or driving hard around corners.

^ lots of city driving too and turning will do it it too. For me anyways, tire wear is looking good all around with slightly more wear on the outer which is normal due to the first sentence.

No need for 0 toe - If your alignment is done properly, using the factory alignment specifications will work properly.

I just had my alignment done to my new 2011 IS250 F-Sport at the dedicated alignment shop I go to. As I expected, the alignment from the factory is off. Drives like a charm now.
