(File a Complaint) IS350 Navigation Broken / Touchscreen not responding Safety Issue
SubscribeDriver
If you don't like Lexus then sell it and get something else dude. Don't come out here and being so unreasonable on the whole navi thing. You should have blamed yourself for being a cheap *** becuase you don't buy $2000 extended warranty for your $50k car.

While I don't think it's a bad idea to complain, because if enough people do, it may cause Lexus to do a customer satisfaction campaign (recall) anyways, I also want to say that they are under no obligation to do anything for you, that they are offering to cover some of the repair is more than enough.
I understand being upset that something in the car broke, however the unit worked the entire time Lexus warranted it. They covered it the entire time they said they would, and still offered to cover half of it afterward.
It certainly is in no way a safety issue, sorry.

I don't get it.
YOU are out of warranty. YOU didn't buy an extended warranty.
Lexus is now offering you 50% of the repair cost out of good will to help you...and your still complaining? 0_0 What are they supposed to do? Offer a free repairs to people who are out of warranty just for complaining? How is that fair for the people that actually paid a couple grand for warranties? Lexus has no responsbility to you if you don't have any sort of warranty through them. You should be happy that a company is willing to offer you 50% of the cost as reimbursement considering the situation your in.
Lexus IS standing by their product by offering you 50% off.
You should try and call a company like BMW and ask for 50% of the repair cost on a dead navigation out of warranty. See how that works out for ya
your position cannot understand the frustration of owner who have a broken navi and have to pay thousand of dollars.

Then don't ask for our understanding. Understanding or no understanding, this is in no way a "safety" issue. Most cars don't have navigation. Are those cars unsafe because of it? Originally Posted by NathanH

One thing I do understand is this is a potential problem on our cars. I have my Nav screen turned off 99% of the time because of it. I'm hoping it will extend the life of the screen until I finally decide to get rid of the car. However, should it fail before then and Lexus offered to pay 50% of the replacement cost, I would jump on it in a heartbeat.
Good luck in your efforts!

My nav on my 07 is still working. But I got it from Carmax and bought the warranty. It covers Nav, thats why I bought the warranty. Hope I won't have to use it.
Did you try the DIY nav fix tho? I agree, Lexus covering half of the repair cost is reasonable, especially when they DON'T have to. Good Luck bro.

I am curious to know how common of a problem this is. Is it just a certain batch of the nav units or certain years etc.

I don't know how common it is but it seems to happen most to 06 and 07s from threads that I've read. Common cause is the soldering warms up in hot weather or you hit a bump and loosens behind the screen, thus loosing connection to touch screen controls.Originally Posted by Honorebel

If that is the case, possible fix is to resolder the connections yourself. If you bring it to Lexus, they will just replace the entire screen and or Nav unit. Lexus never "fixes" anything, just replace.

Nathan,
I've got to agree with what most of the other users are saying here.... you're spamming many threads on this topic today and I'm asking you to log off and cool down please. No more ' Lexus navigation sucks' posts everywhere you go.
I'm sympathetic to your problem and it sounds like you've been offered a pretty reasonable solution. However, your approach here on CL is not constructive so far and I suggest you do more reading on other alternatives to fixing your problem vs thread bombing.

and before you accuse me of 'being benefit from lexus', no I don't work for them. I'm a volunteer here on CL like all our moderators.
