I just traded my 2009 BMW 335i for an IS350. The BMW had 145,000 miles with NO maintenance issues and completely, hands down, outperforms and out drives the IS350. The IS350 competes and almost drives like a 328i - much better comparison. Every time I went in for scheduled service they gave me a new 328i as a loaner. Even with 130K on my 335 the 328 ride (similar to the IS350) sucked in comparison. Now don't get me wrong the IS350 is a very nice car (I bought one) but can't be compared to a 335i...

I do completely agree that the 335i outperforms the is350... which brings me to question, why did you choose the is350? Just curious.. I don't know too many bmw owners going from their cars to a lexus.

my cousin has a modded 335i coupe and I have an IS350, we both have our cars now for almost 2yrs and never even thought of racing each other because we both know what's gonna happen. this kinda explains the fact that there is limited/none performance mods for our cars, our cars are just not born for this.

If you look at the actual performance numbers, the 335i beats the 350 by about .1-.2 seconds in most straight line measures.
The 2IS with f-sport parts actually beats the 335i in the slalom by about 2 mph though.
The BMW feels a lot better, but it doesn't actually perform a lot better.
(stock vs. stock anyway, once you allow mods the BMW pulls away handily in acceleration, though at the cost of doing it in the 1980s interior and hoping the engine doesn't fall out :P)
the big thing to me is you're gonna pay about $9000 more for the 335i in the first place. A 335i is slightly closer in price to an IS-F than it is to a 350, so the comparison isn't much fair.
The 328 actually costs more than the IS350, which is insane given the 350 crushes the 328 in any measure of performance and vastly nicer inside.
(all pricing is assuming similar optioning- I've posted the detailed #s in other threads if anyone cares to look for em)

When just cruising around in my IS350 it's so relaxing. I barely hear the motor, and I love the ML sound system. That is all I need. I have driven a 335 and I know its a monster, I love that torque off the line. The luxurious interior and reliability of the IS sold me.

its all the tq, I believe its 300 that starts at 1500rpm. My friends 335 pins me to my seat. I wish I knew someone with a boosted IS300 in NJ.

To everyone else:
Man, my old '05 E46 M3 was FULL of problems, total piece of **** and I had it from 27k and sold it at 103k miles. When I sold it, it needed shocks (wasn't even lowered), clutch, VANOS, and fuel pump. POS. My girlfriends current '05 E60 550i has so many engine issues (carbon build up, hydraulic leak, valve cover gasket leak, etc.) that it is going to cost between $5100-8500 to fix. Utter BS. Now I LOOOOOVVVEE the look of a BMW, but that 335i will take a **** in the middle of the road way before the IS will. 335's are fast and BEAUTIFUL, but like most I'll take the IS over the 335i for comfort and quality. Can't beat the Lexus interior either. Wish our cars were more mod-able like the BMW
