Question Weird "humming" drumming" sound @ 40MPH...

Picked up my 08 IS350 about a month ago. I'm having a really odd problem and am curious if anyone else knows what it could be. I randomly get and drumming/humming sound inside the cab. It seems like it happens when the AC is OFF and the windows/sunroof are CLOSED. It also seems like it happens more often after a rapid acceleration from stop....like on on ramps and stuff like that. Starts around 40MPH and "HUMS" for about 30 seconds. Almost sounds like its coming from the stereo or subwoofer, but it continues to do it when I turn the stereo OFF. It's pretty loud and annoying and makes you ask yourself, "what the hell is that."

Has anyone experienced anything like this?? I want to make a service appt, but feel like its one of those things i wont be able to reproduce when needed.

What's the status of your radio when this is happening? Is anything playing or plugged in (e.g. iPod, phone, etc) to either the aux-in or cigarette lighter ports? Or is it that when everything inside the car (radio, A/C, etc) is turned off it still happens?

I don't recall. But i have powered off the stereo when it happens because I first thought it was some kind of feedback. It hums, and it hums LOUD, but i cant pinpoint where from. I will try and reproduce the sound tomorrow and now my exact settings at the time.

On another not, car goes next week to have the ciggarette and aux port replaced per TSB. Think this has anything to do with it?

if you don't think you can replicate it at the dealership, you can always make a video of it and show the dealership

That was actually my guess. I'd see if that TSIB fixes it.
