Sort off-topic here, is there a thread that states when I should do what? Like at 30k miles replace this part, at 60k miles replace that part... That will really be helpful to this guy and maybe some other guys who just started doing their own maintenance just to get some hands on play time with their vehicles.

I believe there's a maintenance guide that gives an outline of when to do this change.

Or you could just look in your owners manual

But basic summary:

Every 5k:
Change oil (see note below though)

Every 30k:
Replace brake fluid
Replace cabin and engine filter (do this yourself, takes 5 minutes)

Every 60k:
Replace spark plugs

Every 100k:
Replace engine coolant

That's it.

Anything else is a dealer trying to make $ off you.

As to oil- 5k is the official change (except for 2011+ 250s where it's 10 since they switched to synthetic). Most folks find that 7500-10k changes with even conventional oil are perfectly fine (based on used oil analysis), and you can certainly go a lot longer on synthetic... but 5k is what the "book" says

I currently have this one installed in my car and when i went to install it, I noticed the filter isn't a very great fit. It's not a very tight fit.

I ended up using tape to tape the edges of the filter to make sure there are no gaps for dirt/dust to get through.

I won't be getting this one again. Did anybody else have this same issue with this filter or was it just me?

Can you be more specific about what you are smelling and when? Are you talking about a mildew smell? The cabin filter is great for dust and pollen, but you are expecting too much if expect it to handle an A/C evaporator coil teeming with mold, bacteria and other nasty microbes.

Spray LYSOL in your outside vent (middle windshield) with the A/C on fresh air then switch to recirc, should eliminate your moldy mildew smell and change your filter again.

I sprayed lysol the other day on that location. We'll see how that works.
