Acceleration on 2008 IS 250
Hey guys!
I'm new to Club Lexus and this is my first thread that I've created! But I have a question about acceleration on my car. I've noticed that when I'm at a stop and I step on the gas pedal, there is a slight lag in terms of power going to the wheels. When I drive my girls car, which is a 2007 IS 250, you can feel the response right away once you step on the gas. Is there a reason for this? Were the 08 models different than the 07 models in terms of engine builds? Any help would be great! Thanks guys!

Interesting. I'm curious to find out what some people have to say. Wish I could offer some ideas.
Guess i bought the right year If it is a product of the design then perhaps one of those throttle controllers would be of aid.

I'd like to think that there is something awry that can be fixed. i wouldnt think that there would be a decrease in acceleration/response between 07 and 08, especially for the worse. So obviously wait until you consider a throttle boost controller thingy-ma-bopper.
I dont think they cost much. They just trick your computer into thinking you're pressing down the gas pedal harder, essentially.

What mode are the cars in (normal, Power)?
I've driven a 2007 AWD and 2008 RWD. The response is the same, I do not sense a difference.
With the nature of the electronic throttle, there will always be a delay (as compared to back in day when mechanical was used - this was instant), never instant. In the Lexus cars anyways, there is about a quarter sec I believe (user input to action). I tried Subaru's car before, throttle delay too long, about 1/2 second!

I have an '08 and I don't feel any lag at all. I keep it in POWER mode, but even without that on, there's still no lag (just less power). I've also driven the 2006 and 7 and didn't notice any there either. Might be something with your particular car (?).

The ecm will actually 'learn' your driving habits and style. A vehicle that is driven harder will have higher shifting points and better response then a grandma driving. Perhaps this could explain what you're experiencing

The Power ECT option would probably help this a little bit I think, but throttle controllers don't deliver the power faster they send a false signal to the ECU that you are pressing the gas pedal down FARTHER than you are, but not faster.
IE- If you depress the pedal 50% it sends a signal saying you pressed it 70% or whatever the ratio is...
Resetting the ECU is a good place to start as stated above!

I'll make it even easier for you, here's the thread on resetting the ECU...

(just go down a bit and there's instructions)

I agree with the reset the ECU advice as a first thing to try.
