Head lights sporatically going off
I've noticed my passenger headlight turns off sometime when i drive, but its hard to notice because the fog lights are bright. Now i'm noticing the passenger headlight is staying on but the drivers side headlight is sometimes turning off when i drive. Has anyone had this happen? this seems weird to me because the bulbs work, they just turn off sporadically. and if i notice one is off, i can turn the headlights off then back on and they work fine. any help or suggestions would be great.
Sounds like it's about time for a new bulb. Mine would come on and off "sporadically"when they were about to bite the dust . That's my indicator of when they are about to go bad. The same with yours, mine would come back on upon restart, but eventually it will get to the point where it will go completely out. Dollars to donuts that a new bulb (may as well get 2 new ones to match) will fix this issue.

It's the component which is needed to power up the HID.

Yeah, need to do some reading up on our lighting systems. There are quite different than the old lights where you just plug in a big fixture to the front.
How long have the HID's been in the car? If quite a while then my thoughts are that eventually you'll need a new set of bulbs anyway , You can find them without breaking the bank. If one works, there's your'e problem. If not, you have some bulbs for the future.
if you take it in, dont just settle for them telling you that you need a new ballast. Try a new bulb first.

Even after , this is i think my 3'd set of bulbs , My ballasts are still just fine. If you have a buddy who has any spare bulbs that are good, try one out. Just read the DIY for changing the bulbs. it's not hard you just have a small space to work in. My big hands made it such a pain in the ****.
I have the same problem as well. I've had my IS since '07 and just changed the bulb out last week to 6k and it still has sporadic black outs. I have been in an accident that eff'ed the connector to the passenger side but the driver's side is just fine.
Could you say it's the ballast at this point?
