center vent question
does anyone know what color the vent is on the center of the dash on top of the radio. The reason i ask is the paint fromt the vent is chipping off and i am seeing black so i want to either repaint it or possibly buy another one to replace it. thanks again for your help.
If I remember correctly, the stock colour for this vent is indeed black. I think that the part you are referring to is called the Instrument Panel Register Assembly #3 (PNC # 55670 in this IS dashboard and console diagram)
Since it's about a $175 part, I'd try painting it first before replacing it
Yes that is the part i was referring too but its not black more closer to like a gunmetal gray color. i kow that part is expenseive, i did contemplate painting black just to match the dash
I painted mine black to match the side dash vents. It just looked "wrong" to me in the silver radio face color. You must completely disassemble the piece to get the slats black (looks bad with black frame and silver slats). PITA and you risk damaging the slat mechanism. Does clean up the dash and make it look more masculine. My car is a 2008 the newer cars have a revised black vent.
this is the only thread i can find that relates to the vent.
i have an 08 still under factory bumper to bumper...the center console right vent has a broken vent slat (the up/down horizontal slats). is this covered under warranty?

thanks for that prompt reply!
my worry is what they will consider physical damage? isn't that subjective? everything about the vent works, except 1 slat
i am the original owner, not a CPO warranty, the standard new car warranty
