Replacing CV Boots?
So I noticed globs of what look like grease and gunk on my garage floor. I took the car to a local shop and had it on a lift. Mechanic tells me that both my front CV boots are pretty gone and need to be replaced. I've never dealt with that stuff any one have tips? Or just any general information about it.
Both front CV boots? Rarely do they both crap out at the same time. I would check into that, usually its just one that leaks.
Usually (not sure about the IS) its more efficient/cheaper to just replace the axle than fix the CV boot. For my old car it was like that too, cheaper to replace the axle. You can get Re-manufactured ones to save cost.

^That's what I've read...the coils (the drop really) with the AWD system seem to cause ALOT of issues. I'm guessing that the geometry when lowered causes this issue.
Have you started to hear slight clicking noises when turning at slow speeds? That sound would be your CV joints going out on you.
I would suggest replacing the axles altogether.

Ah YES! i have been hearing this knocks when turning. But i always thought that was something the coils since everyone hears clunks and knocks from the BCRs

You will not have issues with a RWD IS. The front axels on the AWD drive take a beating as they have to drive the front wheels and the boots get extended from all the left and right turning.
On a RWD you will not have this issue even is the car is lowered as the boots aren't under the same stress. Hell your diff will probably need to be rebuilt before your axels do.
The noise you would hear is a constant loud clicking sound when turning left and right. This is a very common problem on FWD cars.
