Default Should i get extended Warranty? need help

I am about to buy an 06 IS350 with 49000 miles and dealer (i am in ontario canada by the way) is offering me a 4 year/40000 mile ultimate warranty for 2k on the car with $50 deductible. now the question is should i buy this warranty knowing that i will keep the car for at least 2 yrs? do you think its worth it on a lexus? please let me know your opinion cause i have to make a decision soon .

Here is how it works
When you fill out & send back the info below I will get the in service date from Lexus and then we can do credit card payment over the phone.
After the purchase is made I will send email to confirm your purchase & give you a customer number and then I will send you a copy of the paper work I sent to Lexus & you will have this from me with in two weeks and will be all ready active.
The last step is Lexus will send you the warranty from Lexus shortly after that.

I assume the year/mileage doesn't stack on top of your factory warranty right? How exactly does the time line work? Is it from the day you purchase the warranty or the current mileage on the vehicle? Say I get the 5 year / 100k miles and my vehicle is currently an 09 with 36k. Is it just covered up until '14 or 100k miles?

It's cumulative mileage and time from first service. An extended warranty runs out at the end of the cumulative time (in this case 5 years) or 100k miles, whichever comes first.

If you get the 5 year/100k mile warranty and your vehicle has 36k, your warranty will be good for 5 years from the purchase date OR until your car hits 100k miles. So the time "stacks" in that it's 5 years from the purchase date of the warranty, but the mileage does not (it's not 100 + 36, it's just when you hit 100k miles). Hope that makes sense.

I highly recommend getting the warranty. If you're unlucky enough to have your speedo needle go out or your nav fail, that's a $2000 job and has easily paid for the warranty.

Arent the warranty prices/coverages different between US and Canada?

I think he needs to purchase it in CAN in order for it to be effective, atleast thats how it was when I was at Nissan, havent had any customers from CAN at Lexus yet

Ah, it wasn't clear to me at the beginning that you were talking about an AFTERMARKET extended warranty, not a Lexus warranty.

Here are my warnings on an aftermarket warranty; the rest of the thread is good too: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/6472050-post7.html

Basically to sum up, if an aftermarket warranty is your only option, do it, but be careful and know what you're getting.

Even if you never end up using it, the piece of mind is well worth it.

It looks like the issue you had with keyless entry "door handles" would be an issue for OP even if he takes the highest package. In the list of exclusions for their highest package are items which are sort of unsettling like bolts, nuts, fasteners, throttle body...and it clearly states inside and outside door handles. Yikes.....and this too is on an exclusionary plan.

@OP there are more comprehensive plans in Canada than these guys. Try looking at warrantydirect.ca (they offer coverage in Ontario, but not in AB/BC)
