Default Help tsb issue

I brought my 'o6 is350 to dealer for instrument cluster start-up clicking noise. The service advisor calls and says" the clicking noise is the instrument cluster but while we had it we went ahead and did the tsb cam actuator" .I picked up car next morning with a full tank of fuel. While driving it, I found it ran terrible.I blamed it on the new load of fuel, figuring it was 87 octane and car having 11.8 c/r = **** performance .THe car stumbles when it is cold at low speeds going around corner's every morning ,when before it was like "hold on lets go".Now I get 19mpg hwy and 12 city where before I'd get 27/18.I have no speed #'s to give you ,but its slower than a rx350.Anyway I brought back to dealer 10 days later after I ran two 1/3 tanks of 93 through it(they say they use 93 also)and they say it checks out fine.THey say memory in ecu can be reset, but nothing is wrong with it.When I drive it I disable everything, trc(brake seq.)and sport drive -putting it in 6 and do not use paddles.Doing this overrides most of the memory, right.Anyway,I want my 350 to perform like it did before .Doesn't the dealer have to ask before they do work on car also ?

Exactly, before dealer or any mechanic perform any work on your car, they require permission. That's why they print out a workorder slip detailing what work/part is required and you need to sign off on it. I'm not sure about leased vehicles though.

You can bring it up to the service or general manager and tell them what happen. Be professional when you bring it and they are willing to help you. Also, regarding the MPG, a lot of time it's the driving behavior which affects this. Perhaps you are accelerating more to test your car's performance, so that will drain you gas more. I don't think dealer will put 87 Octane in a car that recommends 91 Octane.

Thanks for your input.I own car,but the issue is the car was running great and they changed cam actuators without my permission and now car runs terrible. The adviser and mechanic both said everything checked out fine. After asking mechanic to test drive it and see for himself at noon how bad it was, he still has not got back with me.Hopefully he has found something wrong with it and is fixing it.I was using the mpg #'s to help convey how bad it was running.

I'm not sure on the rules (either Lexus's or the law's), but I would say that I'd be very unhappy if a dealer or shop did something to my car without first consulting me. I've never had an issue with this, so I assumed it was just standard practice that you call the owner before you do a specific job to a car, but to be safe I always tell the dealer/shop when I drop it off that I want them to call me after they diagnose an issue and before they actually do anything.

I think right now your focus should be on getting whatever issue is happening to the car fixed. If it's as apparent as you're claiming, the dealer should notice the issue on the test drive and diagnose and fix the issue. After that, speak to the service manager about how you're displeased that they did a job to your car without consulting you.

Thanks Calvin,Yea I got a mess. The adviser called this morning and said mechanic said car was fine, when yesterday the mechanic promised he was going to call back.I called the previous owners service adviser and he said this was wrong and to call 180025lexus before I pick up car.I hate making waves, this is why I bought a Lexus?
