Yeah I recall hearing "Intelligent Sport" from somewhere...I always thought it didn't really make sense though. Then again, it's just a name.

IS- Intelligent Sport
ES- Executive Sedan
GS- Grand Sport
LS- Luxury Sedan

CTh- Compact Touring Hybrid
HSh- Harmonious Sedan Hybrid
GSh- Grand Sport Hybrid
LSh- Luxury Sedan Hybrid

IS C- Intelligent Sport Convertible
SC- Sport Coupe
LFA- Lexus F-performance Apex

RX- Recreational 4x4
GX- Grand 4x4
LX- Luxury 4x4

Numbers: The three digits that come after the model designation stand for the displacement of the car's engine. For example, the LS460 carries a 4.6L V8, hence the name LS460. This is not true for hybrids, however, because then it's based on how much power the engine is producing. For example, the LS600hL just carries a 5.0L V8 but produces the power of a 6.0L V12 due to the electric motors.

F-performance: All F-performance cars will feature the model designation followed by an uppercase F which stands for the Fuji Speedway, the race track where Lexus vehicles are tested.

The definition seems to vary slightly Lexus Japan's site. Interestingly, there is also an F-Sport version of the CT200h in their website too!

IS = Intellegent Sports
GS = Grand Touring
CT = Creative Touring
RX = Crossover

I am not sure what the others are...
