Check Engine / Check VSC after Recall!?
I have a 2006 Lexus IS250 AWD and just this Friday the 22nd I brought my car in at Lexus to have 2 Recalls done which is the Pedal & Floor Mat Recall and the Fuel Pressure Sensor recall, in which it took the whole day to service it. Finally pick up my car at end of business, went home, park it on my garage and did not drive my car until Easter Sunday morning.
After the Sunday Mass while on my way to an Easter brunch all of a sudden there was a beeping sound and my Check Engine Light turn on and after a minute the Check VSC went on too. So I decided to drop off my car at home and don’t drive it until I take it to a dealer this Monday morning.
I search the forums about this and found different answers and solutions, tried the tightening of gas cap and etc. However just to be sure I still took it back to the dealership because I believe it is their fault that the Check Engine & VSC turn on.
Now my question is could Lexus have done something mistakenly on my car after they fix all of the recalls that my Check Engine & VSC turn on?
I’m keeping my hopes up that it’s just a glitch and they could remove it by entering some codes, Should they fix this free of charge? I am just worried now since my mileage is above 76k, as you can see from the image attached and I’m way out of my warranty now.
For now I’ll enjoy the loaner that they gave me a 2011 IS250 AWD with Navi Package and I’ll enjoy putting in miles on it.

i got the same problem today, when my car was idle, the engine felt like dying, after restarting the car the engine went back to normal but the check engine light was still there.
gonna have to take my car to lexus. i just got the fuel censor service done along with my spark plugs.

this happened to me awhile back. The O2 sensor went bad and was replaced under warranty. Hopefully that is the case for you two. It is an emission warranty not the bumper to bumper so 76k is still within the time frame. That is if it is the O2 sensor
LOL
Just happened to me... at a red light, rough idle and as I took off I floored it. Check engine and vsc came on. I stopped and shut it down for 1 min. It runs all fine - NO warning lights present.

Yep... a days end and did not receive any calls from the dealer, I did not even bother calling them. maybe... maybe tomorrow I'll call them up or pass by and get some freebies from the lounge area and check out the used GT-R by the showroom. Uh-Huh a Nissan GT-R at the showroom - maybe they really want to sell it.
@gtr02 - how does your car run now? I remember specifically that before the lights went berserk I kept on hearing a unusual knocking sound in the engine bay.
@golddbz200 - LOL did you still take it to the interested buyer? Bring it in for service and enjoy the loaner.

yes, I did. But I did disclose to them that it had just happened; it was mildly embarrassing. I guess that's what I get for not cranking it for a few days.
I did call the Lexus Atlanta dealership a few minutes ago; a service technician stated it was something that had heard before on an IS 250, but I would need to bring it in for them to diagnose it. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be minor and/or easily (cheaply) fixable.
as a side note: they quoted a 27 point inspection for my car for $129 since I'm selling it. Sound reasonable I suppose.

The dealer just called and after a day of running a test and analyzing they said that it was just a defective gas cap!
just wondering though they did a full point inspection along with the recalls how did they overlook the defective gas cap?
Anyway they replaced the gas cap free of charge and I'm picking up the car after work and I'm still going to pass by the lounge to grab some freebies
@golddbz200 & @gtr02 -> Update the post when the dealer finds out what was wrong with your rides, might be helpful for others when they search the forums - thanks!

Just a few hours ago I had problems starting my IS350 and when it finally started it had a check engine light and check vsc. I had the fuel pressure sensor recall done about 2 weeks ago. After checking this thread I checked the gas cap and put it back on. Car started with no check engine light or check vcs message. I wonder if I should still have it checked out as I've noticed my VSC kick in often without even going full throttle.
I had the same thing happen on my 06 is250 AWD, the dealership ended up replacing the coil packs and spark plugs on my car a year ago. However i just had the check engine light come on again for me today, turned the car on and off and it was back to running fine. Guess I get to make an appointment with the stealership! I keep having these little issues I might just have to say goodbye to the IS.
I had this happen to me several times now in my wife's car.
For me, it was a carbon build-up issue. The first time they ignored me and said they wouldn't believe me until they could re-create the same idle stumble / limp mode.
Second time, they did a top engine clean (i.e. Seafoam).
This time, they took the head off and cleaned the carbon build-up. Essentially, what they should have done the first time around.
