If you drive in the salted snow belt DON'T use metallic valve caps,...including OEM!! They will corrode to the valve stem, and snap off the TPMS stem if you try to remove them,...this is from experience. Very expensive! Use silver colored plastic caps

If you guys replace your caps make sure they are either plastic or aluminum. If you use a cap made out of steel it will fuse to the aluminum TPMS valve stem.

Hey all,

Reviving this thread because I'm in the market for caps.

I found two on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Gasket-3663...=pd_sim_auto_3

http://www.amazon.com/Anodized-Alumi...5722775&sr=1-9

One is chrome plated and the other is anodized aluminum.

Both have great reviews...

Any thoughts? I know it's cheap but I don't want to end up ruining my TPMS either...

Thanks!

True.
You have to use anti-seize lube on the threads.
I use anti-seize lube with the stock air caps,
I like the stock air cap style.I bought a set for the wife's CR-V.

It's a dissimilar metals issue, read the thread below for more information:

Is there a particular type of lube to use? I've seen that there are copper based ones and nickel based ones.

There's a bunch of different companies that make anti seize.
I use this and bought a tube of this stuff somewhere awhile ago.
It's brown so it may be zinc or could be nickle.
Stuff is made in Germany.

After losing my front driver's side TPMS valve stem to a corroded Lexus OEM valve cap I run El-cheapo plastic silver colored valve caps for the local auto parts store,...they're great in winter and I won't get anti-seize residue on my gloves or hands servicing tire pressures.

How do you get anti seize on your gloves and/or hands?
I never do.It's only on the thread under the cap.

Try putting them on with gloved hands at -30C,...if you use plastic caps no anti seize is necessary.

valve stem caps dont have anything to do with TPMS. Youre good to go. Were the L caps the lexus branded ones?
