Don't judge it in stereo, you have to play a DD or DTS 5.1 or 7.1 DVD to hear it at it's full potential,...recommend Pink Floyd DVD,...don't have the title handy but it's in DD Peter Gabriel also has some nice DVDs with good bass.

I just got my 06 350 with ML and I am curious as to what volume others listen to their music without problems.

Volume at 30 is loud yet crystal clear so thats what I usually listen to my alternative/rock music at. I have had it up to 35 and it still sounds perfect but I am afraid to turn it higher.

Anyone else consistantly have it over 35 or 40???

Those that have blown a subwoofer... what volume did you normally have it at?

Thanks

I've got ML and it's pretty rare I go above the 25-30 range... I think my ears would be bleeding if I routinely listed at 40.

Owned for 3.5 yrs and no blown sub BTW

could it be due to the difference in power output that requires owners of the ML and non-ML systems to play at different sound levels?

i also notice a difference in volume when i toggle from say CD to FM. when i play CD at level 40, it would be way too loud for my radio. is this normal guys?

did you also install another amp to drive your aftermarket sub?

It depends on the level of the source. I find XM to be much lower volume level than normal radio, and CD/iPhone (Bluetooth Connection) to be higher than either of those, but even within that general guideline of my car, some CD's are still louder than others.

Need some sort of normalization to correct that, but oh well. The volume level memory between CD and Radio is a nice feature, however it is sometimes a double-edged sword, as you may have been listening to a CD really loud before and then turned it down on the radio, go back to CD and BAM!!! LOUD!

Skynet will kill us all.

the volume memory should work such that the system can remember the volume level for each modules, just like the treble, mid & bass settings. sucky!

It used to be common to see the IS with Luxury Package which included Mark Lev. Lex stopped selling the luxury package in US in 2009 because the cost was much higher and the sales had decreased so much. To get Mark Lev now you have to special order (wait 3 months and pay much more than invoice).

I used to sell Lexus cars and encouraged people to push 62. According to Lexus, the system could go almost 20% higher w/out causing damage to the system. Your ears are another story.

I don't know how true this is.....but that's what they claimed.

It does. At least in my car it does, that's what I was talking about.

What would be nice would be a volume correction/compensation setting that you could set per "module".
