the CPO means that in addition to the warranty, the tires, brakes, and other fluids/wear items have to be over 50%. also, the car could not have been in any accidents more than fender benders (frame damage, paint work, etc...). The interest rates and lease rates are better on CPO as well.
And to throw in my experience, I bought my 2007 IS350 CPO with 56k miles, all options except ML and some F-Sport parts for $24,500, so you can definitely find CPO 350s for less than $30k as was suggested above. I personally believe the warranty is a good idea, regardless of whether you go VSA or CPO.
This is exactly what I'm looking for right now. Preferably an 07 with 50ish k miles, cpo'd for around 24k. Hard to find.
I also noticed that the value for used IS350s have gone up recently on various websites (KBB, msn auto, etc). Is this due to the events in Japan?
i'm in Irvine, somewhat close to 626. I'm actually shopping for my friend who's looking to buy this weekend and has a budget of $30k. He was looking at CPO IS250 which are all around 27-32k on Lexus sites which seems a little high to me. So i told him for $30k he should be able to find a nice IS350. Thoughts?
There is a 350 lux package with less than 30k miles at Carmax irvine for $29.9. Even that is high...
He's looking for a CPO car. The car you linked to, while still under warranty, is only so for another 1 year/20k miles. The CPO warranty on a 50k mile car (like he's looking for) would be for another 3 years/50k miles. The car you've linked to would be $1-2k more expensive than it currently is if it was CPO, putting it far out of his $24k price range.

I'll admit I got very lucky, I looked every day for a while, limiting my search to cars under about $26k, and one day the dealer dropped the price on my car about $3k bringing it to $24,500, which caused it to show up in my search results, and it happened to be exactly the type/color/options mix I wanted.
The only advice I can provide is to just keep your eyes open for a deal. I can't speak to if or why prices on used 350s might be going up more than usual recently.
^ You know, I saw an 08 with 59k miles for 23k a week or so ago. It wasn't cpo'd but it was a recently reduced price and didn't last long. I regret not jumping on it.

The car he linked to is also misleading in that the add calls it "sport" but it very obviously does not have the sport package.
Hmm, whats an easy way to identify if a car has the sport package? What's included in the sport package?> Am I correct in thinking the 06s didn't come with the sport package?

Nope, sport package was available on the 350 every year prior to 2011. On the 250 was available at least 06 and 07... possibly 08 but not sure...and was dropped after that.
If the car has memory seats and does NOT have woodgrain it's sport package, that's the easiest way.
If it has memory seats and DOES have woodgrain then it's luxury package instead.
No memory seats then it doesn't have either.
(no memory seats WITH woodgrain is premium package, which is nothing but woodgrain and the heated/vented seats)

That's a good breakdown, should probably be in the FAQ if it isn't already
20k for a car with 70k miles is not a good price. I snuggest wait for the holidays until the used car market cools down. Prices are out of control IMO.
^^ I agree. I don't know about other makes but Lexus is pretty ridiculous right now. I posted somewhere else that I found a used 2010 Base Model IS250 with 36k miles going for 4 k more than what I paid new.
