Default Oil change question

Well, my IS is not a daily driver right now and it has been sitting for a while. I turn it on and give it a little drive down the street once a week but the drive is not far but it stays running for about an hour every Sunday.

I was wondering, how ofter should I change my oil?

My last oil change was DUE late Nov. of 2010. I havn't changed it yet because I am still 2000 miles under the milage suggested for oil change from the dealer (ie. my car has 25000 miles, sticker says get oil change at 27000 miles) and now it is LATE MARCH!! haha!!

It has Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil in it right now.

I feel like I should just go ahead and change it but I just want others opinions on how often I should change it.

I get mixed answers from each Lexus technician I talk to, some say change it when you hit the milage and some say change it every 3 months... I don't know what to do... help me out

Thanks again CL

It sounds like a 6 month cycle would be reasonable. I guess it comes down to the cost of the change, is it worth any risk? With syn you should be going a lot longer than 3 month 3000 miles

Thats what I thought but thats what the technician was telling me. I think a six month cycle sounds good too but I don't know. Sometimes I like to drive it for an entire day.

Go off of the milage. Otherwise you'll be changing more often than you need.

5K Miles / 8K KM / 6 months should work fine.

I would say 5k miles or 6 months whichever comes first, its not to expensive if you DIY and for $40 its peace of mind.
