Wow that shouldn't be like that at all. Any reputable tint shop will easily remove the brake light, tint the whole rear window as one piece and then reinstall the brake light for you. I would take it back and ask to have that fixed.

220 for me too...I did read on a bunch of sites that it's illegal to not have it cut and won't pass inspection. Has anyone with full rear window tints passed inspection in VA?

I called a couple of places here in VA and all had between 180-220. My guy offered me the same range depending on which material I chose. I went with the better of the two with lifetime warranty.

I called my guy and he's insisting I won't pass inspection without having this cut out in VA. He said he wanted to make sure I was satisfied and would replace the rear tint if I wanted for free, but that I'd have to sign a waiver stating that I knew what I was asking for. He also mentioned that he would not be able to cut me a deal if I came back after failing. He did however offer to cut me a deal if I had to fix my front 35%. Not sure what I believe....looking on the net, there are tons of people with both cut outs and not. I can't however find ANYWHERE online that states whether I need to have a cut out in va!

Is there anyone in VA that has passed inspection with a full rear tint of 35% with no rear brake cutout?

Every 1-2 years depending on what you choose. Dealer got the first one done for a year, so I guess in like 9 months.

well that sucks man. I wonder if he could tint a piece of plastic that's exactly that shape.......and then you slide it inbetween, then when you go to inspection you take it out?

Won't look 100% perfect, but it'd look better than no tint there.

Wait...$100 for tint AND red-outs? I installed my own red-outs (& I am no pro at this kind of stuff), it was really easy. I believe there was a DIY on here too. But if they did tints & red-outs for you...that's a good deal

nono guys smh...my redouts came in the mail the day before i got my car windows tinted so I had the guy put on the redouts as well. The tint job was 100 bucks flat regardless of if he put the redouts on or not.

would have done the redouts my self but i have an apartment and dont have an outside outlet for a heat gun.
