(and FWD vs. RWD can matter to the engine too BTW, longitudinal vs. transverse mounting for example... in your Audi/VW example you might be unaware that the A4 is a FWD platform vehicle that offers an optional AWD system...though at least they finally in the current-gen managed to rear-bias their AWD system which is a nice improvement over previous generations... but anyway it's significantly different from a car that is on a RWD platform but offers an optional AWD system...the IS250/350 for example)

Oh, and even then you're wrong.

The Mk6 GTI uses the non-valvelift variant of the 2.0 R4 16v TSI/TFSI EA888 engine... while the B8-gen A4 uses the valvelift variant of the engine (which is used only in Audis).
this is way off topic, but you do realize that in Europe their FWD GTIs are using the same valvelift variant version of that 2.0 turbo we have here in the A4s.

I appreciate your attempt to change the subject from your being wrong about the Lexus/toyota engines... (and continue to fail to see the relevance of what VW is doing) but I was going by here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...TFSI_132-155kW

Which distinguishes the North american only motor for the Mk5 GTI, but for the Mk6 does not... and only lists audis as using the valvelift motors

DIN-rated motive power & torque outputs and applications - VW/Audi non-valvelift variants
147 kilowatts (200 PS; 197 bhp) @ 5,100-6,000 rpm; 280 newton metres (207 ft·lbf) @ 1,700-5,000 rpm — CCTA/CBFA: 2009 VW Golf Mk5 GTI (North American markets only), VW Jetta MKV, VW Passat B6, VW CC, Audi A3 (8P)

155 kilowatts (211 PS; 208 bhp) @ 5,300-6,200 rpm; 280 newton metres (207 ft·lbf) @ 1,700-5,200 rpm — CCZA, CAWB: VW Golf Mk6 GTI, VW Scirocco, VW Passat B6, VW CC
...

DIN-rated motive power & torque outputs and applications - Audi/SEAT valvelift variants
132 kilowatts (179 PS; 177 bhp) @ 4,200-6,000 rpm; 320 newton metres (236 ft·lbf) @ 1,500-4,000 rpm — CAEA/CDNB: Audi B8 A4

155 kilowatts (211 PS; 208 bhp) @ 4,300-6,000 rpm; 350 newton metres (258 ft·lbf) @ 1,500-4,200 rpm — CAEA/CAEB/CDNC: Audi B8 A4, Audi A5, Audi Q5, Audi TT Mk2 (8J), SEAT Exeo
There might well be newer info than that of course- an article on the 250 would claim it doesn't offer VDIM if written a couple years ago for example, so by all means let us know a more current source if you've got one.

But doesn't really alter the fact that neither the 250 or 350 share an engine with any USDM Toyota model (or much else of significance with them for that matter)

Why so many 350 is better than 250 threads? Pretty sure we all know how much faster the 350 is my guess is thats the reason why 350 owners got that over a 250 in the first place. The interior design is obviously a preference thing and I personally like the newer wood and slight interior changes. All of the woods look good to me. I actually thinking about purchasing the older red wood later

Wow... no offense OP, but you sound rather arrogant coming off with a post like that.

Of coarse the IS350 is going to be better than IS250 because it costs more for a reason AND it is a higher line. Pointless thread... It's like me comparing my car to a Toyota Corolla.

It's just like me saying that an IS350 sucks compared to an IS-F. Let's keep IS250 bashing down ok...

It depends on what your prefer... I like my IS250 as a daily driver. I don't care much for speed. For practical driving purpose, it's still a world faster than a Corolla, Civic, Sentra, Mirage, you name it. At least I am getting 27 MPG on City Driving and that's why I'm glad I got it. Especially with gas prices rising up

Some statements there OP. Let's see what the main differences are between both cars;

- Engine 2.5L vs 3.5L
- VSC/TRAC vs VDIM/TRAC
- 1 Piston disc brakes vs 4 Piston disc brakes

That's about it, the interior completely the same. Every single thing excluding special options. I can say my friends IS350 is lousy and feels cheap since it's a base package, but that would be ignorant of me.

Now for the kicker, the IS250 handles way better stock than an IS350, slalom speed numbers obviously prove that. The IS250 has a shorter stopping distance than the IS350, hm interesting considering it has small brakes. And finally the IS250 has better gas mileage than the IS350, from all the 350's I've come across I can't see a consistent number in good gas mileage unless your coasting the car down a hill.

So relating back to the OP I just picked up my 08 350 and had the opportunity to get a 09 350 for the same price (they had the same mileage). My parents have a 2010 250 which I had driven a few times. Personally I don't like the tail lights, enlarged front grill, the revised rims or the revised sunroof controls so I went w/ the 08 350. It’s all about personal preference and I just feel like the 06-08 models have a more aggressive look than the 09-10s (even if only slight).

In defense of the 250 a week after buying my car I had to take it in to adjust a few of the settings and was given a loaner 250 for the weekend. It was a base 09 250 (base meaning it just did not have nav or other packages). Other than the obvious engine difference the 250 felt just as refined, nice and luxurious as my 350. As a matter of fact a friend of mine loved the loaner 250 so much (she isn't a speed freak) she is looking to pick one up in the near future.

So stop all the bickering about which is better and just enjoy the fact that we're all lucky enough to drive one in the first place.

09+ IS250's have VDIM.

ps. built in nav screens are so lame. My 200 dollar cell phone with free google navigation gives me 3d PHOTO maps.

I was pretty happy mine didn't come with nav.

Agreed that most, if not all car NAVs are outdone by a phone these days... but factory NAV screens LOOK nice.

I just dropped of my IS350 for the recalls and got a 250Hybrid... talk about no power (no bashing).. I would have loved a 250.

I just love the fact that I'm in a Lexus ...

it's funny. I drove my 400hp camaro about 20 miles the other day.

after a full month of not driving it, I really DIDNT MISS IT AT ALL! Everytime I get into my 250.......it's like a breath of fresh air. It relaxes me the second I touch the handle and it unlocks!
