purchased the lexus branded mats in 2007 and last year had them replaced during the recall; new set for free with more of the same. only use them from dec-mar.

A friend of mine is a Toyota mechanic and says a big part of the recall was people double and triple matting. They would get up under the gas pedal.

Yup. The mat recall was entirely to deal with driver error, nothing actually "wrong" with the mats.

That lady who cried in front of congress about her runaway camry? She had double-stacked her floor mats with the top mat unsecured.
