Default check VSC appeared on dash

Hi, I bought a lexus is220d 2008 model lovely car with great gadgets, about 2 weeks ago it had 50000 miles which to be fair is nothing. The car drives well and i was really happy with it until one day a check VSC appeared on the dash and the car then stopped working. It would start but would only drive at a snails pace, I got it towed to the dealer i bought from, and about a week later he then got in contact with me and says the car needs de-coked, when asked to explain this term he said basically the engine needs rebuilt. iI was shocked to hear this so i phoned a guy who has worked with lexus and he said yes he has done this before, and said basically you would be getting rebuilt engine, he also said if it where him he would refuse to take the car back. So my question to you guys is what would you do? and if anyone has any knowledge of this i would really apprechiate it.

I know that de 220d has some problems with the Toyota d-cat engines, I think the engine is just too powerfull and can't handle all the power... How long ago did you buy the car? and don't you have any warranty?

I have the same problem. The dealer had it for a week and replaced my fuel pump. Now, after a week, it is back and it is the same problem. What eventually happened with yours?

Try to clean your EGR its very simple. You can watch first on YouTube as guidance. This could my help. Check VSC its a c..t as could be hunderds of faulty issues and if you dont have a code...its like looking for a needle in a haystack. Other option get someone hwo has reader to conect at ur car and you'll end up with a code wich will tell you exactly where to look. It mite cost you @60 £ at any garage for diagnosis but unleast know your problem. Advice: Stay away from dealers if you're out of warranty! ! Good day.
