So we finally got the first snow in the Boston area and of course I was without a brush to remove the snow off my 2010 OB IS250. I don't know why it took until now, but it got me thinking that most snow brushes are rough as hell especially on black cars. So I wanted to see what others use to remove snow. Thankfully it was only a light dusting and I was able to use a terry cloth towel, but once the heavy stuff starts I'll need more than just a towel.
i agree. a lot of the brushes are quite rough. it was such a joy to drive in the snow conditions when people in front of you are barely moving. im from MA and funny enough, i enjoyed the snow. doesn't kill the tires as fast when doing some small snow drifting, lol.
Go to gppinc.com; they have a FOAM style(not brush/bristles) snow broom that's perfect- they sell these to new car dealerships all day. It's not showing on their website at the moment, but they do have them - I bought a couple for my folks in Ohio - $30each & they WILL NOT scratch the car. Just ask for Mike.
i just use my wipers to knock off snow on the front windshield and since my coat is water proof i use that for my side windows and just defrost the rear, anything else will fly off while driving
I don't about "flying off". It pisses me off when people have a bunch of snow on their roofs and go on the highway. Snow can cause some damage at speed. I've always used a brush, since I don't know any other way to get it off the car.

Agreed! works perfect, also a few of the auto part stores in the area have them, I got mine at autozone last year it was like $20.
I have the sno brum (yup, that's how it's spelled). Amazon has it for $20. The brush part is made of some foam/rubber composite. Best thing is how it stores easily in the trunk.
As for the ones who let the snow drive fall off while they are driving - please reconsider this. You may be a good driver but the person behind you may not - either an inexperienced kid or a senior. Having snow fly right into their front windshield while driving may cause them to panic and next thing you know you are the cause of a 10 car pile up. Take 5 minutes of your precious time and take the snow off your car. - Oh, and as Bichon wrote you get fined in NJ if you don't.
I just purchased a sno brum from amazon for $20 and $6 shipping.
My current car (don't have the IS350 yet - it is coming this Monday) has the teflon paint coat on the inside and outside so I have been using the typical hard snow brush and it hasn't damaged the paint. However, I am cheap and didn't pay the $600 for the new IS350 to get i teflon paint coat this time. SOOOO I need a better brush. Thanks!
