Default Lip Kit?

Has anyone had experience with lip kits? I'm afraid that it might get damaged if I hit a speed bump or bump a cement parking block. What's your opinion of them?

Hmm.. depends on the lip kit. Ings and vertex seem lower than others so it will be easier to scrape where as the GFX lip is not that much lower than stock. It also depends on if you lower your car or not. I have a gfx lip and i still scrape sometimes but it is what you have to sacrifice for better looks

With stock height, there is still chance to hit your OEM lower bumper which did happen to me one or two times. And if you drop your car, you will no doubt have more chances to hit the cement parking block. So just park carefully.

Tons of people have experience of lip kits, as a matter of fact its REALLY rare to find someone on this forum with an actual BODY kit like the "GOOD OL DAYS"

Honestly to me on my past rides lip kits are changed out as much as underwear cause they get beat up so damn much and ultimately break.

accidents will happen, but the more cautious you are of your driving, the less chances you'll have messing up a lip kit. be careful of the parking curb clearance when you park and take it nice and easy when going over huge bumbs or high curbs.

of course depending on which lip you get, and whether your car is drop will also determine how careful you need to drive.

You will scratch the bottom of your lip. You will scratch the bottom of your OEM lip at stock ride height. It's science. I have the Tom's one which is one of the more conservative lips, and it's been dominated underneath. It's a reality all of us deal with, you will scratch it. Just be careful on driveways, go down curbs at an angle. And it's not like you can't repaint them if they get too beat up. I plan on repainting in the spring

As for lips vs. bumpers, the only bumper I can even think of is the Artisan one? Pretty much everyone rolls with lips because the IS naturally has an aggressive fascia. Personally, I think lips are way more tasteful and don't detract from the natural lines of the car. There's lots or really great lip kits out there that aren't too busy but add a great touch that you can go and destroy on a parking block

I have a Vertex kit and I have scraped it, but I'm pretty low on coils as well. It's all how you drive. If you drive wreckless, then don't get it.They do look nice though.

Don't do it...you'll regret it for all eternity.

But for real...If you're worried, drive slower. and if you're on coils, too bad.
