Default IS250 Coolant

So I recently needed to add some coolant to my car (afterwards found out I have a small leak) and looked at the one at any autoparts store (greenish/blueish). I ended getting the one from the dealer which I had already in the car (pink).

The thing I'm wondering is if anyone has used any other coolant other than the pink dealer one. The thing is 32 per gallon, what a rip off and I'm just wondering if it's good to use one of the other ones or even mix them. With this leak I'm looking at another future 32 bucks for this stupid liquid.

Isn't your car still under warranty? Why don't you take it in to the dealership to get it fixed and they will fill it up with the proper solution.

it'sjust annoying to mix the green with pink because it turns brownish which seems like a rusty problem. That's the only drawback.

No I don't have a warranty, bought it used.

And that's good to know that it doesn't cause any types of problems. Not thrilled about my coolant being brown but what can you do.

Warranty has nothing to do with if it is used or not, it is based off miles and/or model year.

Alright well the car's been in an accident so warranty no more. Don't like going around advertising that my car has a salvage title.

No need to worry about telling us it's salvaged. There's a few members here who have salvaged titles and their cars are running like new after they put a little love into them.

Have you found out where the leak is coming from? Since you say it's small, perhaps fixing that would be more feasible rather than buying fluid every so often.

Yeah I'm still putting some love into it haha.

My brother was the one who found the leak and haven't had the time to check it out myself but will look into that this Saturday. He said it's the radiator but good point. Thanks, something I gotta check out.

Bring it in to u'r neartest dealer. The powertrain warranty is 70k. Get u'r leak fixed. Plus i would only use OEM coolant. The green stuff is stupid. The pink coolant is a long life fluid that last till 100k. But its whatever u want to do its u'r car.

First, he has a salvage title, so no warranty.

Second, even if he did, the radiator wouldn't be covered by powertrain warranty, which is just the engine, transmission, ECU, diff, and rear axle.

$20.84 from Sewell... but yeah wouldn't hurt to check with your local toyota dealer on pricing too.
