Default LexTuners steering wheels

You guys who ordered these wheels, did you swap them yourselves or did you pay to have it done? Sewell has a video clip showing this which is a bit too concise to me so I'd rather learn from your own experience in doing this instead. That's my next project, I have the cherry wood with flat bottom one. Really appreciate any help or feedback about the job. Thanks.

^ its fairly easy. We put on about 4 + already. Takes 15 min. The hard part is just building up the nerve to take apart the steering wheel air bag. After that is all easy. Just be careful when you take out all the steering wheel controls.

I did it myself - it's not hard, and you can't be scared to use some force. There are some good DIY write-ups on CL already from people who have taken apart the steering wheel assembly for a variety of reasons.

While I had everything apart, I installed the ISF steering wheel damper, too.

The most physically demanding thing is pulling the OEM steering wheel off. (Hint: Yank from the bottom with all your might) The most complicated thing is putting everything back together once the new steering wheel is in place. Keep your screw locations straight and take a picture of the wiring and placements after you take off the airbag.

I did not do it myself, but be sure to disconnect the battery 1st before taking the air bag out if you DIY. I have cherry/rosewood too, you will love it!!

I also installed the IS F steering damper while the wheel was open as well. Make sure the wheels are straight when you start.

Just did it, it took me an hour and a half, I know, I know that's slow, went easy to make sure I didn't forget anything as far as wiring, screws... It looks real nice, what a difference comparing to the oem wheel. We'll take it for a spin tomorrow to see if everything works as intended, it's almost 8 pm and it's raining now. Thanks guys.

Install was simple in my opinion. When I was disconnecting the airbag, I took the necessary precautions to make sure it wasn't going to discharge (do a search for these precautions). I basically stood outside the vehicle while disconnecting the airbag unit haha.

Also, the only part that required any physical labor was pulling off the steering wheel. Some people use steering wheel pullers, but I opted to loosen the nut and pull the wheel until it came free using my hands and knees. I loosened the nut but kept it on the stud so I can avoid smacking myself in the face with the steering wheel. Total time for install I would say is 10-15 minutes.

If you haven't already done it, I would also do the IS-F steering damper at the same time. It really enhances the feel and it might be the best "cheap" mod I've done to the vehicle. Make sure you get the screws to come with it, too.

Thats why you go to Autozone and get a steering wheel puller for 25$!! Then there is no yanking just a quick turn and POP!

Spend $25 or just pull it off myself? I think I made the right choice.

you get the $25 back when you return the tool, but its easier to leave the nut on loosely and rock the wheel back and forth with your hands at 9 and 3. comes right off no strain.
