made a new thread because it turned out that it wasnt the dealers fault, it was just timing, i ended up blowing a bearing in the motor, it pretty much disintegrated in the motor cutting up the block sending metal shavings everywhere
went to see my car on friday and metal shaving were clearly present in the engine block, corporate also came to document the case since its a rare case
funny how these "rare" cases keep happening to me, had my rx350 tranny replaced this year
anyways, this is under warranty and dealer just ordered a new block today, new head if its damaged, got a nice red rx350 as a loaner, hope i get my car back soon
How does that happen? What causes the bearing to get blown?
99% of the time on these yamaha engines it's because of oil deprivation. The engine looses oil to the cylinders and then it becomes metal or metal rubbing. Once that happens things wear prematurely and its starts with burning oil and then in extreme cases the piston can get tweeked in the cylinder causing it to get stuck then I've seen the rod break while the piston is stuck and so the rod just moves around hitting everything in the cylinder. Most of the time though its just because of the metal on metal wear that wears the part out and it doesn't fit "tight" like it should.
Oh okay, I understand. I've seen something like that happen with rods being thrown. The guy that bought my previous Trans Am didn't put the oil plug back on right and it lost oil but he didn't realize it until it was too late. The crazy thing is that he drove past me while I was walking and I saw the oil spraying out from underneath and I couldn't stop him to let him know. That really hurt because I took care of that car meticulously.
Toyota doesn't make engines, the make the car. Honda doesn't make cars they make engines and they have Acura design the cars. Yamaha makes the engines for Toyota's streamline cars now.
