Damage Bolt.
I was taking apart sister's tires yesterday to change the break pads and
! the wheel lock bolt chipped and now I cannot take off the tire or bolt, and i tried another tire and the same thing happen, the wheel lock bolt broke off. I talked to the dealership and they said they can take it off for me and replace the bolt. I was wondering if anyone here know a way I can do it myself and save the money. also if anyone have this experience, how much is it gonna cost me to have the dealership take off the damage bolt, i asked for a quote and they told me "depending on how long the tech takes to take it off", which sounds like a lot since they like to take their time. car is no longer under warranty btw.

Hi @aznpapaya,
I had the exact same thing happen to me last month. Luckily there is a Toyota dealership less then 5 minutes from my house and I went there. I ended buying new locking nuts and locking key from them for $35 and they removed and replaced the old ones for free.
Hope you have the same great result as I did!

You could hope for that from your local dealer or if u have access to a welder you can weld a long pole to the nut(tack weld) and it will come off like a champ...happened to me before and thats how I did it
unfortunately i dont have access to a welder, i guess i see what the dealer says tomorrow.
Do you necesarily HAVE to take it to the dealer? My mom's LS400 wheel locks were stripped, and we just took it to a tire shop to have them removed. You can buy a set of wheel-locks from the dealer (or with the CL discount at Sewell if you can wait for them to be shipped.) In the meantime just buy a set of lug nuts for a few bucks at the auto parts store.

I had the same thing happen on my IS with the McGard lock.
Here's what a buddy of mine did. He used to work at a tire shop so he knows.
Get a socket that is a little undersized for the lock. For example, if a 3/4" socket fits over the lock completely, step it down to a 13/16" or smaller. Get a hammer (preferrably a small sledge) and hit the socket onto the wheel lock. Then get a ratchet and use the socket to remove the lock.
What happens is this. The socket will "bite" into the top of the lock when you hit it. The socket may split but as long as it grabs the lock, you should be able to remove it.
Youtube has a video for this method. With my McGard lock, it was a really hard material so my buddy had to really hammer on it to get the socket to bite. The video seems like the lock is a soft material since he doesn't hit it that hard.

FYI. This is the way thiefs remove wheel locks so I don't use them since it's not much of a deterrent (and I'm on stock rims). Plus, I've had the McGards break on me also. PITA!!!
Good luck!

i try to remove it myself tomorrow before taking it to the dealership, i check with my local tires shop and they said they'll probably charge anywhere from 30-60 to remove it.
