Gone In __ Seconds!
I know that the 0-60 time for the IS350 has it for 5.6 seconds, but there are people who can get it to be lower than 5 seconds.
Whats the best time you've gotten on your IS from 0-60? What is the time that you are aiming to achieve?
On that note, is it possible to get your IS350 to go from 0-60 in 4 seconds flat? I know thats faster than the ISF (Which Lexus claims 4.6 seconds, but I'm sure you can get a time of 4.0-4.3?), but will it be possible to get it that fast without spending as much as getting an ISF?

dude you made like 3 new threads in the last hour or so. most of your question can be found by using search.
but to answer your question, the is350 is very underrated on the lexus website. its pretty common to hit low 5s or even high 4s. theres a few member here who have hit 4.6s. it requires you to know how to launch

You can get 0 to 60 in 4.1-4.3 if it's really really cold outside, and you are running on 1/8 tank gas, and you have removed your spare tire, and you have no passengers, and you are on drag radials, and you are going downhill.
Lot of "ands" there. On flat ground, forget about it.
You are correct though, Lexus claims are understated. In fact, Lexus recently dropped the IS350's time from 5.6 to 5.3 because they knew they had understated it too much.
In truth, the IS350's 0 to 60 is more in the range of 4.8 to 5.2 (average being around 4.9 to 5.0 flat). And, as you said, in colder weather it's possible to dip well into the 4s.
The ISF on flat ground is more like 4.1 to 4.3 seconds. It's definitely faster than 4.6.

What is the proper way of launching? Do you just floor it from a stand still, or do you rev the car and get it at a high rpm before taking off?
Also, isn't reving your car at stand still bad for the tire tread?

I ask, cause the price difference between an IS350 and an ISF (with all the features I'd want) is a $25k difference! I'm sure you can modify the ISF properly for under $25k to get a 0-60 time in 4 seconds on flat ground.
No you can't. None of the 2IS cars will do a 4.0 0-60 without a LOT of help. When you get under 5.0 seconds, power increases and traction improvements need to be massive just to pick up another 0.1. Check 0-60 times and see what cars do it in 4.0 or less. See what they weigh. See how much power they make. You're not going to get that kind of power to weight in a 2IS without spending an obscene amount of money. You'd be WAY ahead to buy something turbocharged from the factory and modify it if you really want this kind of performance. You're not going to find it in a 2IS.

The only truly sensible modification for the IS350 are the F-sport sway bars. Those actually make a difference in an area where the IS350 needed improvement (handling/reducing body roll).
"The average car as of 2009 gets from 0 to 60 mph in 8.95 seconds."
Even the IS250 is well above average.
IMO there's absolutely nothing wrong with 5 flat. There's never a need to get from 0 to 60 in 5 flat in the real world. It's purely for bragging rights, really.

LOL, who doesn't want the fastest, meanest road car out there?
I know I used to, but then I split off towards what I consider the more important things for a road car - safety, smoothness, comfort and music quality. Don't get me wrong, I still like some poke under the hood and for the car to go round corners without turning into a bowl of jello but I'll save the speed for the track and a track car.
Hell, you can make any car go fast but there is a good saying that covers all the bases.......fast and cheap ain't reliable, reliable and cheap ain't fast and fast and reliable aint cheap. I should know, I made my VW Golf MKV faster and more powerful than an IS-F (440bhp and 510lbft), but it wasn't cheap!!

The F-Sport Exhaust and Intake will give you a handful of ponies, certainly not enough to get down to a 4.0 second 0-60. Aside from the insanely expensive, and now discontinued, Toms supercharger, the best way to make a 2IS faster is a full exhaust (Joe Z Racing), headers (PPE) and nitrous. Weight savings and better wheels/tires also help of course.

when i got my drivers lic back in... 82? 83? only SUPERCARS came from the factory with 5sec times... and not low 5's either
