This kit does not use Philips components. It uses Chinese made bulbs/ballasts (not saying they are bad) by a factory authorized by Philips. The problem is that you now have literally 50 people trying to sell a "Philips" HID kit and 99% of them are selling fakes.

But it is still a Philips kit.
It is like saying Lexus is not a Lexus if it was made in Canada.
Only the ones made in Japan are the true Lexus.

Agree about the ebay guys trying to scam, but not if you validate the 14 digit serial# before buying one. That way you know you are buying the genuine stuff.

I spoke to one ebay guy selling these kits and when I asked for the 14 digit serial# he responded (wow)with "No 14 digit code"

The outer capsule of the bulb is made by Philips. The ballasts are definitely not made by Philips/Hella.

99% of the people selling this kit claim "German made components" when the components are not made in Germany.

Steve, I have utmost respect for you and the products you sell but please don't give canned answers or answers that are half truth. It just doesn't sound right.

Either ways, it is a Philips Kit. I am sure Philips will not allow it's name to be put on equipment that does not meet its QC standards.

chikoo - respectfully, why don't you order the kit and check it out for yourself. I have been in business for 10 years selling HID conversion kits and have many contacts at Philips. I am familiar with this product so my answers are based on knowledge not opinion. If you have access, find a genuine German made Philips D2S capsule. You're not going to find a 14 digit serial number on the capsule.

Now that is more like it Steve. If you had said that earlier, it would have been more believable. Your earlier one line answers were not quite convincing. Thanks again for responding favorably. If need be, I might do what you recommended and it wouldn't have been the first time I would have done something like that. That said, the 14 digit serial# is what Philips recommends is what sets the genuine conversion kits apart from the counterfeit ones. Appreciate if you can shed some light on it.

Only those products with a label containing a 14-digit serial number are to be verified online to confirm whether the product is using genuine part from Philips or not.

There will be a serial number on the HID bulbs that are made in China by a Philips authorized factory. There will not be any serial numbers on German made Philips bulbs.

You walk into a Nike shop and the shoes says it's made in China. You buy a Camry here in Australia, which is locally made yet parts are shipped from Japan.

So what gives? you should only by Nikes with lables Made in the US, or only buy Camry when they are imported direct from Japan?

I think Phillips may sell the kit but they may useparts either ballasts or bulbs sourced from overseas. If you love Phillips brand you buy what they sell.
