Hankook FTW. Only complaint I have with them is that because of their design, the edges of the tire are more square than rounded, which causes rubbing issues if you're low enough on coils.

Falken's also can't hold the bead with a stretch on them.

Ventus V12, ive heard alot of people say thats the best tire in that price range, and its the best bang for the buck. Even forgetting about how cheap they are for what they provide. they are supossed to be great tires.

i currently own re760 and you can't flip them. Also why would i want to stretch my tires? Oh and another thing i live southern california it doesn't rain or snow here so why do i want all season tires when we only have one season all year.

^ Huh? Hankook V12's are one of the best rated tires period, despite their modest price. They perform better than PS2's (the de facto "gold standard") in several categories including braking. You don't always have to break the bank in order to get a quality product. My $0.02.

Just got these tires. Ride is much better and handling is improved a lot. My TCS tends to kick in a lot more with these tires probably because I need to break them in. Overall excellent tires. There's a $60 rebate going on right now if you want to jump in.

Well this was a reassuring thread! I am glad I am going with Hankook. One local dealer wanted to charge me $1,142 (mounted, balance, road hazard) for a set of Hankooks, the other a modest $696 (mounted, balance, but no road hazard). I was thinking about going to tirerack.com to purchase the set for $564 + 42 shipping and driving over to the Toyota dealership to have them mount and balance them for $39.99 for a total tire purchase of $645.99. I was even going to buy the nitrogen for them for $30 more which comes with a 1 year protection plan.

Check with discount tire- they'll generally meet/beat the pricing from tirerack and offer a pretty solid road hazzard plan too.

Default TPMS Rebuild Kit. Do I need to purchase this?

Thanks Kurtz. I was just checking them out. I noticed discount tire offered a TPMS rebuild kit, but Tirerack did not. Do I need to purchase this? When I purchase my rear two tires last year from firestone I don't think they offered this to me.
