You bet! I was shocked too at first

Did you see the picture of the relocated Ballast on the driver's side?

Yep... Thats what I was commenting on at the beginning ...

Yeah, new location looks good although the original was fine if there wasn't an ECU problem some people were talking about...

I did it because of my own "research"...see here

hid-kit-emi-interference-how-to-reduce-eliminate

Come to think of it, every ballast I have seen from Philips / Denso / Matshush-i-ta / Panasonic comes in a full metal box with metal brackets. Even the cheaper China made kits that copy this design are full metal jacket enclosed. Is it because this creates a Faraday cage and will provide EMI protection to the other electronic components of the car?

Also, this means that the ballasts should be bolted to the metal frame of the car so that it is grounded, and not simply zip tied anywhere.

Additionally, A great deal of noise may come from the High Voltage lines between the ballast and the bulb, especially if your ballast has an external ignitor. The best way to combat this EMI may be to get some stainless steel hose sleeves from the Home depot or Autozone and run it over the wires..and make sure that they touch the car frame to be grounded.

Food for thought.

hmmm i was looking at that place also but just had a feeling been near the engine and belts isn't good. And 3M tapes are not superglue lol. Hate to see what will happen if the ballast fall off while you are driving?

I bought another set of bulbs. I think they are sockets not pins/connectors.

So this socket would fit right onto the oem socket (as apposed to using pins)?

3M tapes are superglue. I have been using them for years now. The adhesion actually gets better over time.

For example, I had used that same 3M double sided tape to mount my speaker on the wall. After 3 years when I tried to remove it, the drywall came out with it. Another place I had used it to stick a security sensor (the one you see in the dept stores entrance) to the floor. After 6 months, I had to remove it and it pulled out the ceramic tiles from the cement slab LOL.
Oh yes, I also have the ballasts zip tied, but you cannot see it as it is behind the hoses.

Here is a picture of my 6k headlights. Awesome white light with just a tad hint of blue.
My BIL who has a G35s with factory HID was quite jealous at the white light that this put out on the road LOL

6000K is the best for light and output no doubt but mine is very white with purplry tint from an angle.

I'm waiting for energyspeed to ship me 8000K. If the harness is a little longer than the pin/connectors type, i'll put my ballast just inside the mesh grille (came up an inch short with the current 6000K FFS!).

Can i get a second opinion on this? How sure are you?

I have not read about the ballasts needed to be metalized.

Like I said, this is my inference from how ballasts are designed. Have you ever seen a ballast designed with a plastic casing? No. Not even the cheap ones. A plastic box is way cheaper than the metal box. There has to be a reason for this. And the only reason I see is that it creates a farady cage and for a faraday cage to be 100% effective, it has to be touching the metal frame of the car.
