Default tb/intake cleaning

Im new to the lexus scene, so pls forgive the newb questions. On my 07 250 can i clean my tb/intake by disconnecting the rubber intake tube at the tb end and just spraying tb cleaner into the tb while engine is revving? I've done this many times with my other cars, just not sure if the lexus has sensitive electroni s that might throw CEL. Any contraindications to this? Thanks

Haven't tried this on the 2is personally, but I had an IS300 prior to my IS250 and used Seafoam to clean the intake by pulling the vacum line (PCV hose) off the brake booster and sucking it in that way. Seemed to work quite well, lots of smoky smoke! I don't believe there are any electronics that this will damage but I will say depending on the type of gas you use this will run a lot of carbon fumes through your engine. Often people say this can foul up your spark plugs but I think this is more common in an engine with 200K+ miles that has never been treated for carbon buildup. I crashed my IS300 shortly there after so can't say much on plug performance long after the Seafoam. I'm not an expert or a mechanic, just my personal experience.

talked to Lexus service about this a couple weeks ago because of the whole 2IS carbon buildup issue. he said put it in PWR mode and put in 1st gear and redline it a few times.... also spraying some carb cleaner into the TB wont hurt it. If you run the car at wide open throttle and peg it into the red zone you should see the black smoke come out the back... by doing this a few times every so often it will keep the carbon buildup issue from happening.

Yeah, the MAF won't be reading anything so the engine, if it starts, will run like total crap. Why not just do it right and remove the TB so you can clean the backside where it's really dirty. Or better yet, just leave it alone. They typically don't get dirty enough to be an issue under 100k miles.
