Default IS250 6MT Question?

The fact that the shifter on the 6speed is250 is so tall like some truck pisses me of even with the fsport quick shifter i have. I was wondering if cutting it would and and rewelding it to make it shorter more like the 350zs would be possible cuz i kno it would make shifting alot easier and more enjoyable? Any opinions?

that would make the shift **** lower and the throws shorter, but I would imagine it would make shifting harder/difficult since you've just decreased your leverage.

I would not recommend trying to cut it. Go with the F-Sport Quickshifter if you want shorter throws. If you read about it, I believe it has had tons of positive feedback. It won't lower the shift **** though...

Since you already have the short shift kit, lowering the **** will make the shifting shorter. But it will also decrease the leverage to shift, like ULTiMaX99 said.

Go for it if you don't mind this. Just make sure that the weld is a quality TIG weld...you don't want it to break....obviously. And with the additional force required to shift, the weld needs to be solid.

Good luck if you decide to do it.

My brother did this on his Legend a while back, and actually made and sold kits to others. He cut the shifter on the top half, then re-threaded it so the stock shift **** could be put back on. There were changes to the under the pivot point as well, but I have no idea what the linkage looks like on an IS, so I won't comment on any possible similarities. That would accomplish what you want, and would make the shifts a little bit shorter.
