Default HID Bulb Replacement

The bulb on my passenger side HID headlamp is out. Bulb ALONE costs $185 at Lexus. Has anyone changed their own HID bulbs? Is it difficult? I've searched a few pages here and have not found a thread on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it is not difficult if you know what you are doing. i believe there is a DIY guide w/ pictures somewhere in the 2is section; try using the key words "d4s" and "diy" in your search.

if you need a set of bulbs (oem or aftermarket), pm me.

changing the bulb takes only about 10 minutes. its not too hard. only getting the clips back on properly is the hard part. n maybe the cover

It's easy.

First take off all the engine covers except for the center piece. Then when you look at the drivers side, to make things easier, you'll see a tube that's for refilling washer fluid. You can just unbolt the top bolt and pull that right out. Now you'll see the cover the for the headlight. You just pull the locking clip to the side, pull the cover off and you can unscrew the bulb, pull it off and reverse with the new bulb. On the passenger side, you can unscrew the intake box out to easily access the bulb with the same cover. You can search up a DIY instruction to see exactly what I'm talking about. I find it hardest to put the bulb back on since you have to kind of wiggle at it to have it lock in place. It's very easy. I'd say maybe an hour or two the first time around since you'll probably be a bit paranoid at first. After that maybe about half an hour or so with a bottle of corona extra in your hand

don't mean to be an ***, but it's 6000K or 8000K, not 6K or 8K. also, K = kelvin, the unit of measurement for color temperature.

btw, i think the only iteration between 6000K and 8000K is 6500K. imo i would go with 6000K for the best blend between light color output and brightness. 5000K is also a good alternative for something closer to stock but w/ a whiter light.
