Anyone has an iPad mounted in the car? Or maybe with ideas on how to mount it? I have a 64gb 3G iPad so it would be really cool because I choose not to get a Navi.

 

Hadn't thought about until now but you may be onto a good idea for a future car feature. A little shelf or frame to slide an iPad (or whatever tablet is popular in a few years), which acts as the user interface to everything. It can be of course removed at any time and charges the tablet while docked.

At least it would probably get rid of the extortionist prices for built-in Nav. In the meantime, I highly recommend just getting a little Garmin Nuvi and keeping it in the glove box for a Nav.

 

Been planning this as a christmas present to myself. Put it off until christmas because hopefully by then prices would go south a little, and a solid clean mount with have come up. <Subscribed>

 

why would someone buy a ipad in the first place? much less any apple product?

Done deal fellas, although I don't recommend it putting an ipad or even a portable navi on the dash or windshield. In case of an accident, anything flying towards your head is very dangerous.

Except for the motorcycle one, which seems to be suicide, that's pretty neat! That being said, I'm glad I forked over a few grand for a navi system instead.

 

attaching it over the air bag deploy area isn't a good diea also.

 

if you're a diehard apple fan boy, then you can pray the ipad will pad your face from the dashboard in a crash.
