Default Repainting rear bumper

Well a bike fell in my garage and put about an inch gash in the rear bumper. I understand that I am going to need and estimate to see how much I am going have to pay, but from your experiences what would be too high and what would be "expected"?

the car is obsidian, so it shouldn't be a hard color to match.

My Estimate would say at least 300$ for a good Repaint.

Trust me our cars have the same color and i've asked numerous places that do a good job for price quotes on repainting a rear bumper..

Any pictures of the damge? Was the bike hanging from the wall or something? Does the bumper only need to be repainted or repaired in any way. Tokeris350's estimate of $300 is accurate for a good paint job. So you should be looking to spend around $200-$400 for an adequate paint job. Good luck?

the bike was leaning up against the wall behind the car. I would think that the bumper would need to be smoothed and possibly filled just a bit. Then painted in that area. If I could avoid repainting the whole bumper I will.

Don't bother repainting now, that is SMALL, I was expecting like 6" or something long, and 2" wide lol.

Do what this guy did:

Get yourself some touch up paint and carefully fill the defect. It will look just fine.

Try either Lexus or Drcolorchip.com for paint.

I had 2 spots filled and painted on my bumper. Cost $650 to pull the bumper, disassemble, paint (3 stage) and reassemble.

The ColorChip system has a page here that will help you evaluate whether it's right for your scratch:

http://drcolorchip.com/faq.shtml

Either way I would probably go with that or touch up paint over repainting the entire bumper for one scratch.

Chances are I will go with the drcolorchip stuff. I'm gonna get a friend of a friend that paints to look at it.

Wait a few more months for a few more scratches to get it re-painted, for that one alone, I do not think it is worth it.

Imagine how bad you'd feel if you spent all that money to repaint a minor defect, and the next day it happens again. I would just go with touch up paint

that is nothing. its so small, if your going to repaint your whole bumper over that, then you'll probably going to repaint your whole car 5 times over in a year.

I fraking backed into a garbage can and it left a tiny scratch. I took it to a body shop and they quoted $300 just to fix that little area. I was about to do it until I came to my senses and bought some touch up paint from lexus for $9.
