Default Gurggling from behind dash during start up?

Hi,

I have this distinct water gurgling sound coming from behind my dash during start-up. Sometimes I don't hear it, but most times I do.

I took it to the dealer and as expected they said they didn't notice it and couldn't do anything.

Anyone experience this?

My car is a 2007 IS250 with ~42K.

Thanks

Gurgle noise?!?! Never heard of this one but, maybe you can try to record the sound and have the dealer listen to it.

Sounds like you might have an air bubble in your coolant lines. Try adding some coolant to the radiator (not the overflow bottle) and let it burp out the air, may take a couple of minutes so be patient.

Yea, my ls400 does this too. Your cars heater uses the engines antifreeze to deliver heat to the cabin. If there is any bubbles in there you can get that glug glug noise.

I pulled the radiator cap and it is full to the top. I don't want to fill it and overflow. Does the fact it looks fill to the neck mean it really is?

Ok I looked in the bottle today and it's well below the "full" line. odd. think that could be it? I need to figure out what type to purchase and can refill.

something you may want to be aware of...i took mine in for a grinding/rubbing noise at startup...didnt happen all the time, but enough to be annoying, dealer ended up replacing my cam gears, and they made it sound like this is a known problem. just fyi.

Update. I filled the collent bottle to "full". It was below "low"! I then filled the radiator cap to the top, ran the engine until the head kicked in with the cap off, stopped the engine, it had settled a bit, added a bit more to the cap, and closed it up.

The next time I drive it gurgled a bit, but hasn't done it since in over a week so I think that fixed it..i.e. air in the line due to low coolant.

Thx
