Is BT even ON in your iPhone? Did you pair the phone with the car? And what do you mean by syncing? AFAIK the iPhone won't sync with a Lexus navi, you have to enter your contacts manually.

This isn't true, at least not in the 2010 models. As soon as I paired my iphone 3GS with my car, it asked me if I wanted to sync my contacts, and within seconds, everything was in there ... voice recognition works well, and I didn't have to set anything up
No issues here on my 07 350 with ML, paired up nicely and I was ready to roll. It seems like the BT can get jacked up though as I have had issues with mine not pairing at times. I just set it back to default settings (the car's bluetooth that is) and pair it again, works like a charm.

Where does the Nav put all your conacts? I have an '07, which has space for about 100 phone numbers. My BlackBerry has 2400+ contacts, with home/work/mobile numbers for most. Do all these numbers get transferred to the new Nav version??

You know, I have no idea since I don't have that many contacts. I think I have about 70something, so I wouldn't be able to answer your question. However, it seems like my 2010 can have 4 phones paired, and it has (seemingly) contacts sections for each phone. As soon as my phone isn't paired, it has no contacts to call.
Perhaps it doesn't actually store contacts in the car anymore, but rather just syncs them down? No idea, I'm just speculating. Then again, since it's HD-based now, perhaps there's room for a lot more contacts than before.
The 2010 6th gen nav systems stores contacts on the hard drive but they are not available when the phone is not paired. You have the ability to store 1000 contacts on this system and it will store mulitiple numbers under each name such as mobile, work, home and such. I also have an IPhone 4 which pairs and is functioning correctly.
