I guess what you are saying is that I'm taking care of my stuff wrong and polishing it won't do. And that the only way to "show" I take care of it is by means of treating it.
Besides I don't think a sheetmetal mechanic would wash and Polish such metals on an airplane, something they don't own, as opposed to something they do own such as an exhaust system on their car. These things go through different elements. And I live in Houston so no need to worry about rust under cars.

If what Mcdonald says is true and yu have stripped of the anti-rust off, the houston is not a good place to be. Too much moisture and too near to the sea....salty air....

Hey wait!! Everyone stop fighting!! *waves arms furiously*
People make mistakes! And other people post on here to teach those who have made mistakes...
Nobody wants their car stuff to rust...and if they knew it would then it probably would not have been polished out, right?
Well it's done now, lesson learned and exhausts are replaceable. Enjoy the pretty shine it has and when it gets all funky then get a new one.

Everything corrodes no matter where it is. The difference is just how fast it happens. Metal will always try to return to its natural state - oxidized. People make careers out of keeping metal from appearing corroded.
Maintain it, and understand you reduced the service life of your mufflers. The improved appearance may well be worth it to you.
FWIW, there are LOTS of mods I see on CL I would never do to my own ride for a wide variety of reasons. This doesn't give me carte blanche to go off on someone or make rude comments about their intelligence.
With this in mind, carry on with the discussion, but keep it civil!

I think this went right over your head or your level of knowledge. What JMcDonald is trying to say is that with no corrosion protection it will eventually deteriorate no matter what you do. You can get under your car every night and polish it before you go to bed but it's still going to deteriote. With no corrosion protection the humidity in the air will deteriorate it. I know you live in Texas but yes there is humidity in the air. All air has humidty to it.
