Lifetime fluid: the device the fluid will be in is estimated to break before your fluid is worn out. For example, if your transmission should last only 100k and your fluid will last 120k, then it is a life time fluid.

More relevant in this case- it's physically impossible to change significant amounts of it.

well i got through the 1st 3pages of this post between kurtz and 123... so is it safe to say that the WS fluid can not be fully replaced but just added to ( I will have to search this forum for when to replace the other fluids like brake). I think I will replace my spark plugs around 60K.
This has all been very informative.

I am getting my system valve recall done and my service tech did advise me if I wanted to get the 60k service he wouldnt charge me for the labor, since my car is going to be taken apart for the recall. So after its all said and done its going to cost me $550 for my 60k service (Lexus of Clear Lake) Houston Tx

$550 without paying for labor?

What is he charging you, $50 per spark plug?

60k service should be:

Oil change-$50 at dealer including labor

Brake fluid change- $100 at dealer including labor

Air/engine filters- do it yourself, takes 5 minutes, $50 for the filters

That's $200.

Leaving $350 on your bill... only item left is spark plugs. Which should be $12.95 each, or about 80 bucks... for a total of $280 for your 60k service if you're not paying labor on the plug change.

What's the other $270 paying for?
