Ownership Thoughts...3 yrs
So I have owned my IS250 AWD for about 3 years...I came to Lexus after having a bad experience with an Audi A4 1.8t quattro. Just as a breif history. The Audi was serviced for the following: water pump, bulb outage, sunroof switch, coilpacks, tensioner, manifold leak, power window regulator, radio peel, etc. This was all within the span of a year. So it was a time for change...
Since taking over the Lexus I have had nothing but worry free driving...knock on wood. The only issues that I have ever had include wheel corrosion which was taken care of through warranty, and rattles. But lets be serious almost all cars rattle eventually.
The reason for this post is a couple recent reviews that I have read on yahoo. Owners have been complaining about the rattles and windshield crackling. The community should know that there are many more important things to worry about than rattles.
I am assuming that they have never experienced ownership of a german vehicle. Lets face it; the mishaps that occur while driving a german vehicle are as bad as toyotas latest gamet with the acc. pedal. Examples: bmw 335 where the fuel pump dies and the car goes into limp mode. What makes it worse is that the replacement fuel pump has the same faults. This is especially dangerous in highway situations. Another example is Audi's continued coilpack problems. Again the vehicle goes into limp mode where in many situations the vehicle is deemed useless. Why arent these companies exposed for having faulty vehicles or recalls?
I just wanted to post my overall thoughts on being a Lexus owner. I certainly do appreciate the car they put together. One of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I guess this is why 80% of Lexus owners stick with the company for purchases down the road. Thanks.

For me for the windshield crackling noise, it was attributed to the dash. The dealer took care of that and installed a fix kit on it to tighten and pad the under part of the dash. No more noise and didn't cost me a thing.
While I always thought German cars have the sexiest body styles I wouldnt trust them mechanically. Unless I bought one brand new with a good warrently like BMW has. I couldnt afford to buy a brand new luxury car so I planned on going used. My dad leased about 3 lexus's while I was growing up and also had a couple of toyotas before that. He never had any problems with the cars. Even knowing about all the negative press toyota has been getting lately I still went ahead and bought an 07 IS250. While no car is built perfectly I still trust the way this car is built over any of them out there.
i had electrical problems with my 07 tacoma and actually went to go trade it in for a 2010 tacoma, but then saw my car on the lot and couldnt help but get it. even tho i had problems, i knew that it was just bad luck and stayed with the brand. every once in awhile something is bound to come off the line with a problem, but it wasnt enough to keep me away from a proven, long lasting brand

^^^^ Agreed..As for the rattle in my dash it only happens when it's cooler out, as soon as the interior warms rattles go away. Like any car they all will have issues. We as Lexus owners rather have the least. Plus our cars are damn sexy. Thats why everyone stares at us. I will def stay with Lexus from here on out.
