The CPO warranty is an exclusionary warranty, which means it covers everything on the car EXCEPT those items specifically listed. This is in contrast to an inclusionary policy, which covers ONLY those items specifically listed. The former is obviously more attractive, since in general it tends to cover more things.

These are the items that are NOT covered by the Lexus CPO warranty:

The following components are specifically excluded from coverage under the Lexus Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty:

Standard Upkeep Items:
accessory drive belts, batteries, filters, fluids, heating and vacuum hoses, lines and tubes, tires, spark plugs, windshield wiper blades (rubber component).

Wear and Tear:
Examples include brake pads, rotors, shoes and drums and manual clutches.

Body and Interior:
bumpers, carpet, chrome, dash cover and pad, door trim, handles, fabric, glass (including windshield), headliner, hinges, interior and exterior trim and moldings, cupholders, ashtrays, covers and vents, lightbulbs, nuts, bolts, clips, retainers and fasteners, paint, rust and corrosion damage, seat covers, shiny metals, weather stripping.

Accessories:
any non-Lexus accessories or modified components, including but not limited to wheels, radar detectors and cellular phones.

Other:
any component which has not failed, but that a repair facility recommends or requires to be replaced, repaired or adjusted.

Navigation is not listed, so it's covered.

Unhappy

Not exactly the same symptoms but my NAV unit has been acting up. The buttons on the touchscreen work when the system is up. My issues are intermittent, and happens maybe 40% of the time at startup.

Sometimes at start up the screen remains blank and I don't see the Lexus logo, other times I see the lexus logo and it takes a good 30 seconds to get to the I agree screen. And the strangest case is when I start my car and I see this screen...quite bizarre if you ask me.

I'll probably try checkign the fuses, disconnecting the battery and what not before I bring it in. I've already tried the battery thing once but I guess it won't hurt to try again, maybe save me a couple grand haha.

DUDES THERE IS A FIX FOR YOUR NAVI... IT IS THE 4 wire ribbon on your digitizer that went bad... Look on the CL Forum, I just read it last week so its not far off in the forums... Possible Nav Fix was the title if I remember!

-DO IT FOR FREE! F*** Lexus dealerships.

I can see this turning into a class action suit. Kinda wish I had paid more attention to this before I was so pressed on getting an IS with the nav. Lol

Just happened to me! 07 IS350 with 42k. My car is garaged and I only drive it 3 times a week, at nights mostly. It sees daylight like 1 hour a week. So I don't think its caused by the sun.

But I did hit a curb going 50mph that cracked my rim. Maybe that bump caused a loose connection?

I'm going to try the battery disconnection and diagnostics screen tomorrow. Failing that, I got my car from carmax and has their MaxCare. Should be covered.
